Here is the Minnie dress idea:

I Frankensteined this together in Photoshop using the drawings from a Lizzie McGuire pattern I bought. I super-imposed the red Minnie fabric I just got, too. DD wants this same style of dress in the Tink and Cindy fabric too.

I'm almost packed for vacation...

....right now I really need prayers for my brother....today he's undergoing a THIRD amputation and then they are transporting him from Neptune to Philly....that's so far away, that we can't really just get in the car and visit, so, he'll be basically, by himself there....

Did you guys see the pictures from that Queens neighborhood that had that massive fire?!......it literally looks like a war zone. So sad.....

BF and I talked about this quite a bit. It's a FF's nightmare. First, where do you even begin, second, no water pressure, and third, with the wires down it's too hazardous to even do rescues. He worked Monday through Sandy and we were very lucky. At home we didn't even lose power and he and his crew spent most of the day in the engine baby-sitting downed wires.

My heart aches for NY and NJ and the coastal areas around CT/RI/MA. When I turned on CNN on Tuesday morning while I got ready for work I just sat and cried a little bit. So much loss.

I'm glad to see all the nanners checking in ok.

Oh Kimmar, biggest of big hugs to you, my friend. I really hope things start getting better for your brother.

Oh Kimmar, this makes me want to get in my car and drive down with a trunk full of full gas containers (totally unsafe, I know). Is there anything at all we can do? Anything, honestly. Nothing's too big or small.

I don't know that I know where you're physically located but know that wherever you are Sandy obviously had a big impact. And on top of everything else! Our little city in Southeastern, MA was very fortunate, but my heart is broken for all those who weren't so lucky.

No school again tomorrow, the NJEA Teachers' Convention in Atlantic City [next week, which non-Jerseyans typically call 'Jersey Week'] has been canceled, the gas lines are HIDEOUS - the aftermath is truly disastrous.... a few towns away is Moonachie,, which has made national headlines. We are on one side of Teterboro Airport, they are on the other, next to Little Ferry. The two towns are basically under water....

I do know of Moonachie and my God all that flooding! Are there any rail lines running yet?

I know right know BOS-NY Amtrak service is ending in New Haven, but someone told me they're restoring/have restored service to Philly. I'm sure you've thought of that and if it were possible you'd be doing it, but just a thought.

And this might seem a little out in left field, but, could you Skype or FaceTime with him a bit? Not the same as in-person but...

....well, I know that my niece is safe - she's just a hop, skip, and jump from YOU (goes to Univ. of Tampa)...and, one positive note: my DH drove to upstate NY and got gas for my car. He and my oldest DS just emptied [into my gas tank] 2 of the 3 gas cans that they had filled.....
