My oldest danced at MK last summer, and will again in August this year. She's been dancing since she was 2, and for her it was the chance to live her dream, lol. Her group met the transport bus at the TTC guest services. The dance teachers and 2 parents were all who were allowed backstage. They loaded the bus and went to a backstage entrance. I left her at this point, and took my toddler to MK. She's 15, and usually takes care of everything herself, so I wasn't worried, but I wanted to see backstage myself! I think the performance was at 11:00am, in the Tomorrowland theater. Be warned there is little shade, and we were roasting before they even took the stage. She said the backstage AC was only working on one side, so they were hot by the time they were done. I don't know all the backstage details, but they were dropped off behind SpM, and had to run a bit to meet up with the photographer who was doing the group shot in front of the castle, as they were told if they were late he'd leave. They took the photo, and she was done for the day. The teachers were give mouse ears with "director" stitched on the back, and an "Mousker" the WDW version of an Oscar. :)

One thing to note...we're AP holders, but her pass wasn't good for that day. I had given it to her to use and pocket the day pass if she had the chance, but the CM who took care of them from start to finish activated them all during the performance.

These are great, and my dancing DD agrees!!! Can I please have them for 2008?

Thanks!

Thanks For The Great Designs, Keep Them Coming. Still In The Planning Stages But Would Like To Hear Everyone's Experience With Their Dd Dancing At Wdw. Also, Need Your Advice On Fund Raising For The Trip, Did Everyone Pitch In For The Dancers, Any Advice Is Appreciated Along With Designs Thanks!!!!!!

My Dd Likes The Minnie Head, Would You Be Able To Put Ballet Slippers In The Middle And Change The Color Of The Yellow And Red Minnie To Black And Bright Pink (their Dance Colors) We Will Show All Designs To The Dance Teacher As They Come Along. Thank You

Thanks for the dance 2008!!! I have a feeling once I show dd's friends I'll have a project to do. :)

You can read my previous post on our dance experience...we didn't do any fundraisers because we're from the central FL area, so all we needed to pay for was admission and food. I think our ticket was $29.00, better than a fl resident single day. Most of us just went for the day, some familes stayed the night, but it was their choice. Typically when our dance studio travels, even as a group, each dancer is responsible for their own expenses. We do fundraising throughout the year and each dancer/family has an account in the booster club which they can draw funds from as needed. Sales of things (candles, cookie dough) are earned by the amount you sell, carwashes and group activities like that are split evenly among all who participated that day. We also do a 50/50 raffle at the recital and corportate sponsorship, which is too long and complicated to explain in a post, but you can PM me if you want more info on that, it's our biggest money earner.

I showed off the Disney Dancer, and DD's studio wants it...can we add the studio name? Thanks so much!!! We liked the 2008 Disney Dancin', and the studio name is Dance Art Theatre.

Thanks so much!

My teenage sister will be dancing in MK in two weeks! I am trying to get all of our plans finalized now. My Mom and I are going with her (shhh...don't tell my toddler I am going to see Mickey again!). I will post details of what it is like when we get back.

As far as fundraising, I know her studio did several things selling candles. We are far from central FL so we are flying and then meeting up at the hotel. This will be my first experience with a bunch of teenage girls and the mouse :scared1: ...wish me luck! :lmao:

The dance teachers took care of all of our details, and it was a done deal before we even knew about it, but since we're in Daytona making the trip was not as big of an undertaking as it can be for anyone really needing to travel. Below is a link to the official site with all the info your teacher needs. One thing I do know is they do not allow anything that has official Disney music or anything that Disney could possibly have done...we had a really cute 3 little pigs competition number that always performed well, but weren't allowed to do it there. We had a great time, and my DD (she's 15) felt like she got to live a dream, her first trip to MK was when she was 4 years old, and was amazed that there were dancers at Disney...she'd been dancing for 2 years at this point, and said then and there she wanted to do it too. She was beside herself happy last year when she finally got the chance to do it. I hope it works out for you too! :)
