Anyone gone out dancing at night at Disney? I'm so sad Pleasure Island is gone :sad1:

I've read that the Coronado Springs Resort has the Rix nightclub with dancing but that it's pretty dead. I don't care if anyone else is there, our little group of 4 will dance alone, but is it dead dead? Like because the music stinks? Anyone been there?

Are we better off heading over to Universal CityWalk? I'd rather not drive over there and worry about drinking or pay a cover fee to get in the dance clubs but I will if I have to. Or have to deal with little teeny bopper girls and hot shot dudes (aka drunk college kids, lol).

Anyone have any ideas / experience going out for a night dancing in Orlando?

:cool1:  :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: :rotfl2:

Head on over to the Boardwalk and check out Atlantic Dance Hall. There is a DJ spinning the dance tunes and its lots of fun. No cover charge either. Since the closure of the pleasure island clubs this place has really become a favorite among resort goers. Lots of fun.

Ah, hadn't even thought of that! Thanks for the tip!

Do you know what kind of music they play there?

Found this in a search.

I have the same question and thought I'd bump this thread up in hopes of more replies?? Please?

I'm going on my first adult only trip and will have a car.

We'd like to go dancing at least one night. We like Top 40 music, I'd like to wear a dress and it would be nice if the place wasn't all 20 year olds. Maybe a variety in age.

I know about Atlantic Dance Hall although I've never been. How is it? The music?

Any good clubs in the Orlando area? Thanks! :goodvibes

The music at Atlantic Dance is top 40's stuff you can dance to with a mixed age crowd that never gets to rowdy. Its a nice place to dance and/or relax. Don't bother going to the club at Coronado its dead, dead, dead unless there is a convention in town. In which case its still pretty dead. There are plenty of clubs in downtown Orlando that are trendy and cool but it really depends on what you're looking for.

There's Roxy, which is usually crowded and fairly young but its party central and it can be a blast.

The Groove plays music from the 70's thru to modern. The crowd is also mixed and its not usually as crowded as Roxy.

If want Hip-Hop or House/Trance music head to Antigua. Fair warning the sound system is L-O-U-D. Best 80's night around though.

Finally Club Firestone is a good place to dance to reggae/latin/electronica. If you don't mind 18+ crowd go on a Saturday for their themed nights. Really good time.

On an different note, its not a dance club but the Ice Bar is a one-of-a-kind experience where you can go into a frozen room and sip chilled vodka in fur coats. You don't get much time in the frozen bar but its cool to do just once.

The clubs in Orlando all have covers and you should take a taxi to and from so add another 40 bucks to your expenses but have fun!!

Have you ever heard of the Blue Martini or Sky Sixty or Ember?

Since I posted my question, I did some research on nice clubs with possibly an older crowd. Came up with those 3.

What do you think?

I want Top 40, older crowd.

I've been to all three :) and they are very different in what they offer.

Blue Martini is at the Millenia Mall which I thought would initially be a detractor but its not in anyway. Great spots to sit inside or out. The happy hour is amazing not to mention ridiculous. Its from 1 to 8 if I remember right, so its seven happy hours. The drinks are great here if you like Martini's. Friday night is the night to go, that's when they have a nice upscale crowd and the DJ plays good top 40 music. Saturday is a live band usually. :thumbsup2

Sky Sixty is more ultralounge. Its a rooftop bar so the views are great but the music is Trance/House/Techno. The crowd there is fairly young and can be obnoxious. Of course, I went when there was some 21st b-day party there so my view may be skewed somewhat. :sad2:

Ember ...I love Ember but not for dancing. It looks like a typical club on the outside but inside its a Tuscan Villa! Lots of open spaces, friendly people. Great place to go relax for a drink before you go dancing. :cool1:

As a former (orlando area)Floridian please don't go to Roxy if you are looking for trun dance type clubs stick to the the N. Orange Ave area there are all types of club and bars there and if something doesn't strike your fancy you can move on down the street till you find something that dose.

That said, you really need to check out The Groove and Red Coconut Club at Universal's CityWalk complex. It's a similar concept as PI used to be and for one price ($11.99 + tax) you can club hop. The Groove is close to 100% Top 40 on Friday/Saturday nights. On Thursday they do an 80's Night. The age range is 25-55.

Blue Martini is hit or miss for what's going on. Roxy is not really downtown and it's a VERY young crowd. Ember has a DJ (sometimes two) but no one is dancing there. Downtown in general has lots of clubs but a very young crowd. Of all the downtown places visited that has the most varied crowd age wise, Independent Bar on Saturday nights is the place. But the music is not Top 40 but early 80's New Wave/Early MTV music.
