dance recital weekend

Oh do I know how you feel. yesturday was rehersal tomorrow is the show, But I only have to deal with 2 costumes and 1 show. Last night when I got hmoe at about 9:30 I went right to bed.

I don't even want to think about next week! Thursday (12th) is dress rehersal, Friday is my niece's Sweet 16th Party, Saturday (14th) is the show (1 show, 2 costumes). ACKKK!!

Have fun! I'm sooo glad its over for another year around here. Interesting note, the daisies held up better than the roses did. Yall have fun!

Break a leg Briar Rose!!

I have rehearsal Sat am, Dress rehearsal Mon pm (2 costumes, 1 show), recital Fri pm (next weekend), b-day party Sat afternoon, Ladies Night Out with friends Sat pm, and Father's Day on Sun. I'm not sure I will survive!

I hope that everyone takes photos of the dancing divas. I'd love to see some great photos last week.

This must be where it comes in handy to have only had one girl. Monday was tech rehersal for us (no costumes needed for that one) Wednesday was dress rehersal (she needed to be in costume with full makeup and hair done) and tomorrow is the big day. Thankfully she's still only in pre-ballet and they only do one show and one routine. That means only one costume too. I'll be taking pictures and I will post them tomorrow :)

Tonight is our last night. We've had 5 nights of dress rehearsals and recitals this year. They run from 5:30 until 10:30 every night.

Chelsea is in 11 dances this year. I spend most of my time running up and down to the dressing room.

I just finished sewing the rhinestone rope on Chelsea's last costume a few minutes ago. I've been making costumes for the studio for the past few months. I just added them up and I think I've made 213 costumes.

I'm ready for a nice long break from sewing. Maybe I'll even find some time to DIS again. :)

I'll try to post some pics next week. :)

Wow, Lisa! You are awesome to make all those costumes!

At Allison's studio, Ms. Sandra's mom makes most of the costumes, and it really helps keep the costs down for us! She's the celebrity of the studio, as a result!

Ours is next Saturday....this is the first year Allison is in both the day and night show. 3 dances in each....tap, ballet and jazz. She's got all the furniture moved out of the middle of the family room and is practicing like crazy! My 11 year old neice has a duet with the lone boy in her classes, a tap number where they wear tuxedos. They are both very talented and have a lot of chemistry together, so it should be adorable!

Good luck to all the dancers out there!

We had ours last weekend... 3 mind numbing hours :)
Alison was in 3 dances.. they did men in black for jazz..the costumes were so cool
and yes Briar Rose they do get expensive!

What does everyone else have in their family

Sandra, nothing at all like that with my kids' activities, thank God. (although I'd hate to add up what we've paid over the years for private school tuition!).

But DD, age 9, has now succumed to horse-fever. She went to a riding camp this week, and is now talking non-stop about getting a horse....GULP!

wow I thought I paid alot I spent about $700 dollars this year between lessons costumes and new jazz and hip hop shoes. tonight is the big night. I do have pictures from her rehersal but i can never seem to get them to come out on the boards.

sandra, when do they have time for all those classes?

we couldn't do that many classes even if we had the time -- they just don't offer them. and our studio doesn't do solo or duet numbers.
