our first show tonight -- four more to go.

show opens with dancers posed in front of a castle back drop. five dancers (the teachers) in costume -- Belle, Snow White, Cinderella, Mickey (just like a character at WDW, the costume was that good!) and Tinker Bell. as "When you wish upon a star" plays, Tink sprinkles pixie dust on the princesses, and they and Mickey dance. then the senior tap company (high school girls), all garbed in dresses like Minnie's and with mouse ears and red bows on their heads, do a tap number to a mabo -- the songs in the mambo include the Mickey Mouse March and It's a Small World.

most of the classes dance to some Disney-type music. younger dd's ballet class did "Can You Fell the Love Tonight?" and her tap class did "thoroughly Modern Millie" (don't ask how that's Disney, I don't know if there's a connection." both dd's are in the jazz company -- they danced to Cruella De Vil.

I haven't seen older dd's tap class yet or the Broadway Jazz class that both dd's are in. can't wait til tomorrow.

Well, dd's theme is pretty close. Their theme is "Castles, Legends, and Dreams" and there are some disney songs. DD didn't get one of the disney songs though. She got Braum's (sp?) Luliby...you know, the one that plays in almost all baby mobils...so it almost puts the whole audience to sleep. I guess that's where the dreams come in :)

DD's ballet class danced to "Beauty and the Beast" and wore Belle style/color tutu's!:D
Enjoy the recitals!

My DD is having her band concert on Tuesday and they are doing a medley of Lion King songs. Can't wait to hear it.
Have fun at the recital.

I own't give a blow by blow of all the numbers, but today's show featured my daughters in the cruella de vil jazz number, my older daughter in a tap number to chim chim cherie/supercalifragilistic, the tap number from "Millie" and

both girls were in the Broadway Jazz class, which did "circle of Life". all the girls wore leopard body suits, and had headdresses reminiscent of the Julie Taymor puppets used on Broadway. older dd had a lion head, younger dd had bird feathers and tulle wings. Simba was played by a stuffed animal. and the choreography was very much like what's done on the Broadway stage. it was one of the best numbers in the show.

In DD's dance recital a few years ago the song they danced to was Be Our Guest. It was really neat. Beauty and the Beast is one of my very favorite movies.
