Dance Recital Costumes

My DD#2 has not had a storebought costume for Halloween since second grade! I always put her in a dance outfit. Next year no parade though. I try to keep all of the costumes. My only problem is sometimes when my rambunctious nieces are over they get them out and leave them out, and my own kids don't put them away for them, and then things happen--I have an old cat, 'nuff said? So I have had to throw some away because of smells and such.
DD#1 (14)has been in for 11 years now and DD#2 (11)for 8. They are doing 4 and 3 dances this year, respectively. Luckkly DD#1 is getting to use one of last year's costumes this year, but then we paid for the production number costume. Ours are $50 each, then sometimes more for tights and extras.

I was wondering the same thing just the other day! My daughter, 15, has only been dancing for three years, two of them competitively. The first year, she was only in one number, so only one costume. Last year, she had five different costumes, and this year, she has seven! I don't think any of her costumes were under $50./60., and that's not including the shoes and accessories! I can't believe how fast these dancers go through a pair of pointe shoes!

She does not want to part with any of them, and I don't blame her. She has come so far in dance in such a short period of time. She competes in jazz, hip hop, and lyrical, and she'll perform in the annual recital in jazz, hip hop, lyrical, ballet, and pointe. All of the competition girls also perform the opening number for the recital. She can't wait! :)
