Dance Moms - anyone still watching?

I haven't watched in a long while. Might have to start again.

I've heard that they are all under contract and that is why Kelly keeps bringing her girls back after threatening to leave and none of the girls/moms are kicked out even though Abby has threatened to do so. I think it makes sense, if you really think about it. I'm really not sure that Kelly's girls really still fit with the team. While Brooke isn't the tallest anymore, she is the oldest and, when compared to the ages of the other girls, rather significantly older. The other girls are just that - girls. Brooke, on the other hand, is clearly maturing into a beautiful young woman. She also clearly has other interests outside of dance. Paige, too doesn't exactly fit anymore. I know that she is very close with Chloe, but that doesn't mean she is a fit for the dance team. Sadly, she is one of the weakest dancers on the team. Maddie is clearly the best and favorite. Chloe has consistently been number 2. Nia and Kentdall have really improved as of late and are right up there with Chloe, I think. Brooke is also one of the better ones, as well, and might even be better than Chloe (hard to tell since they dance such different styles and are in different age groups). That leaves Paige and Mackenzie. Mackenzie is safe because of Maddie. Paige would be safe because of Brooke, but I can see Brooke leaving the team (and do wonder if Brooke is the only reason Paige hasn't left herself) when contracts are up.

I don't know. I just figure that contracts are why the Hyland girls are still there. Possibly also why Chloe is still there, too.

My feeling on the contracts is the parents are all in it for the money. Contracts for little kids like this cannot be for all that long. Kids change so quickly and this show has been on what, 3+ years now? So obviously the parents are re-signing the contracts.

On the show we see all the kids that Abby is bringing in from other parts of the country. Why can't these current 'dance moms' shop the kids around like Asia's mom does? Oh yea, they are not that good. And maybe the only one who is good enough is Maddy and she's quite happy with Abby.

I swear I saw JoJo at the Orlando audition section last night!

I don't think Paige can keep up with the level of dancing they are doing anymore. It's sad because I really like her.

I think Chloe loves being on TV. She mentioned liking acting in the past, and I think this is a starting point for that for her.

Yeah, but her mom is the worst...so manipulative and sneaky. That lady irks me the most and then Kendal's mom is next to irk me...those 2 are so so devious. Nia's mom is the most grounded...then I like Maddie's mom (which most people hate for some reason). Brooke/Paige's mom is just so whiny and annoying. I don't think Peyton has the same deal/contract as those others, so I suspect she isn't going to be around much longer...but I like her mom and I liked Asia's mom...for giving it back to the other moms (but they are both kind of...not classy).

Holly and Kelly have sons. I wonder how their other children feel about all of this focus on the girls. I know Kendall has big sisters too. I guess if you are getting paid per episode, then you justify all the focus on one child by saying it benefits the whole family.

Chloe has a baby sister too. (A toddler I think.)

We definitely saw Jojo and Hayley from Abby's UDC at the Orlando auditions.

So the auditions were actually for AUDC, but for dramatic purposes they made it look like they were for ALDC.

They mentioned the contracts with Abby before when Kendal's mom took her out of ALDC to go to Candy Apples.

If what they were saying is true, there is definitely a reason why they don't snatch their girls out of the group. They didn't say how long the contracts are for but there is a huge amount to pay if you take your child out.

Anyone watch the recent episodes? This week's was with the big fight between Abby and Kelly where NYPD was called and Kelly was kicked off the show and her kids out of the school. Now TMZ is reporting that Kelly is suing her for breach of contract, defamation etc for $5 million

I have to say, this is the ONLY time I ever wanted to write a sponsor of a show to complain. This season has been horrible. Abby spends more time putting them down (other than Maddie) then she does teaching them anything.

Someone watched the replay in slow motion and said that Kelly never moved forward but Abby kept inching up growling and biting her teeth and that's when Kelly slapped her.

My daughter was on the junior olympic team for gymnastics (which alot is dance) and the instructors never talked to the girls like that and they were much more competitive.

I can't watch those kids cry anymore. Hearing the sobs as the fight was going down while Holly was shooing them out did me in.

I agree. This really seems to have gone too far.

I understand that if the goal of these girls is to become professional dancers, then they should know how to accept criticism and rejection. But she has a team of dancers (more than just Madi) who are very talented and accomplished. Abby has crossed over into abuse at this point.

This season just has a different feel. It's like they are out of material and the whole "I'm going to replace you" is about trying to incorporate some of the footage they already have from Abby's other show.

Got calls and texts from a few old friends who were dance moms with me -- not that kind of dance moms, just the ordinary mom w/ kids in dance, to tell me I "had to watch". Haven't seen the show in quite a while, but have seen and heard a lot of comments here and there.

Staged and scripted, which I've known for a long time. This one had some new wrinkles because it wasn't just viewership the producers were after. After a fast and furious round robin of texts with my friends as we watched the show I saw a set up designed to remove a mom & her two daughters who have been hanging onto their right to be on the show under their contract.

IMO the only reason Abby Lee would be presenting herself as such a deplorable human being for treating other people, especially children, so despicably is because she's gotta sing for her supper if she wants to keep the job. All the people so upset with how she behaves, how the moms behave, should take their angry comments and pile them on the producers' heads. The on camera "talent" on this show will all no doubt have great regrets in the future about appearing on this show. The producers will walk away with pockets full of cash & no one questioning their responsibility.

I fully suspect at some point we'll hear some whisperings about people wanting off the show but being threatened w/ lawsuit if they do.

An article from several months ago said that Abby wanted a couple of the moms out based on their contract with her dance company but they were tied to the production contracts.. at that moment I realized this was where she was heading with Kelly and Christie..

I kind of feel that all the other moms should have walked out with her and there is something kind of two faced about them "supporting" each other with the conflicts with Abby but then staying put when one of them has a blow out with her and walks off.

Exactly what I suspected. And I don't blame Abby for wanting the certain baggage gone. One mom down and one to go!
