Does anyone know if there are any Dance/Drill team or cheerleading competions going on at Disneyland January or early February 2009? Nothing against them, we just ran into a large group there for a competion last February. They were very well behaved and polite. There was just a LOT of them. The park got very busy the days they were there. We like to go to DL in the off season to avoid crowds as much as possible. TIA

Check out the following link. This will give you an idea of who might be at the park during your trip. Note, looks like there is a Cheer competition in March 2009.

My sister used to compete, so I can personally vouch, like you said, there are a lot of "cheering" girls in the park. Not that they are rude or anything, just TONS of them with their families.

Don't know how much it will impact the parks, but there is a huge (45,000+) religious education conference the last weekend of February.

USA Cheer will be having a competition AT DCA on Feb 28 - March 1st. They will also be having some other competitions at the LA and Anaheim Convention Centers. This link has the dates and locations for them:

My daughter will be competing at All-star nationals at the LA Convention Center on March 13-15. And even though we will be in LA - our group will also be spending time at the parks. :cool1:

Back in the day I was one of those dance/drill team girls in the large group. I don't blame you, now that I am older, I wouldn't want to run into them either. There are sooo many in one group and it does make it hard to get around even if they are polite and respectful. Trying to get around any large amount of people in one group makes it hard to do anything at DL. Good luck and I hope you found your answer.

We will be there Feb28-March 1 for nationals that are held at DCA..My DD is 5 and her team qualified 2weekends ago.. I am excited.. another reason to go to disney.. I understand the crowds..we were there last year, before she was even cheering, and there was a cheer thing.. it wasn't that bad.. I am glad to have APs and DVC!!!

Thanks for not flaming me. :rotfl: I was sure I was going to get a mad cheer mom letting me have it! Like I said nothing against them, just like to be there when its less busy. I have two pre-teen aged daughters that do sports, so I understand how it is. We went to DW when my youngest was 6 and there was a big cheer competition going on while we were there. We were riding the bus back to our hotel and the back of the bus was full of cheerleaders. It was late and they had been cheering at the top of their lungs for about 20 minutes. My 6 year old stood up and glared at the cheerleaders, we didn't hear another peep out of them the rest of the way. I was torn between scolding her for being snotty and thanking her for making them stop cheering. Thanks for the info everyone!

Would you mind telling me, how you found out that number? That is a huge amount of people!!

I know there are a lot of dancers from Australia traveling there in April (including my girls) and I think they will be involved in a competition (but not in DL) They are dancing in both DL and DCA...

I got the number of people that will be at the Religious Congress from my church. It will be Catholics from all over SoCal.
