We are considering an arrival date of Feb 4, 2012, and I'd read earlier (on DIS) that a dance competition also began on that date.

For anyone else who is interested, here is a link to the details about that competition (schedules, etc). It may allow February visitors to avoid related crowds if they choose!

For instance, there seem to be several competitions at DHS over the course of the weekend, so we'll plan to visit there later in the week. The hotels offering package deals to the competitors are the All-Stars and Caribbean Beach.

Hope this helps a little!

Thanks for the heads up. I just booked our stay starting Feb 4 at CSR. We have been to WDW twice during the National Dance Comps, and they were not bad at all. We did not stay at a resort that the majority of them were at though. Crowds were not affected much at all, and everyone we saw seemed very well behaved, so..hopefully it will be the same again!

We stayed at asmusic a few years ago and found the pool area packed as well as the cafeteria.. Although it was quiet in evening, we found busing and food CRT alot busier with the presence of cheerleaders. So I am no going to a value hotel during that week

A crowd's a crowd...except when the crowd is composed of hyper teenage girls (having been one myself once). :)

Thanks for the additional thoughts, disneyfan2...

I will be a part of that UDA crowd in February  (and let me tell you I am excited since I didn't know when we'd be getting back). Anyway, they are dancers, not cheerleaders, so at least you don't have the cheering and screaming during practice times. I have heard that they will go and practice (with music, although it should not be loud at all) in the courtyards in the morning and evening. Right now it is designated All Stars, usually Sports, but it could have an overflow into other *** and maybe even Pop but I'm not sure. Caribean Beach is a more expensive alternative so I'm thinking they don't get a lot of teams who choose that.

According to the brochure from UDA, they have upwards of 300 schools competing. In the grand scheme of things, and with the size of WDW, I doubt this would even cause a blip in the crowds, even at the Studios on competition day (since they will come and go at various times during the day). Unless you are planning on staying at ASSports, you probably wouldn't even notice them at all.

UCA cheerleading nationals :cheer2:are the following weekend in February.:thumbsup2 We are arriving Feb 9th.

For those who have gone in early/first week of Feb, how much does the national dance and cheerleading competitions affect crowds these weekends or the week in between. Minimal impact i'm hoping?? Maybe just avoif DHS on the weekends?

We went Feb 4-11, 2011 and I found it affected the crowds at DHS especially! It was very crowded with the large dance teams.....you could tell they where together because they travelled in large groups and wore their competition track suits in the parks! I truly found it made it hard for touring on our scheduled DHS day. I would try to work around them if I went on another FEB trip in the future.....As to the resort (we stayed BC) we didn't find it affected anything in a noticable way. HTH

The crowds are not really a problem except at DHS. The ASSP, ASMU and CBR are pretty loud especially the food courts. Beginning on Sunday night the crowds increase since everyone is finished and ready to play.
