Thursday 10th April

Today was our final day. So we got up early again, finished the packing and took all the bags down to the car. We then went for breakfast. When we checked in we were given the option of swapping one New York hotel breakfast for breakfast at Cafe Mickey. We were given 2 vouchers for today so off we went for our 8am reservation.

The breakfast was good, the same choice as breakfast at the New York. Soon we were joined by Pluto, Mickey and Minnie. They did a great job doing the rounds and making sure they visited every table. People were very patient and no one was running up to the characters.

After we had eaten we headed off to make use of early entry. We rode Buzz and Space Mountain a few times, each a walk on. Then we went to Adventureland for rope drop as we wanted to ride Indiana Jones. However once we got there we found it was having technical problems. So instead we headed off to ride BTMRR again.

After BTMRR we headed back over to Indiana Jones, but it was still having problems. So instead we decided to explore Advanture Isle and the Swiss Family Robbinson's tree house.

Soon we heard screams coming from the direction of Indiana Jones so we headed back to find it open. We only waited 5 minutes before we were on.

By now it was nearly 12:00, time for our reservation at Blue Lagoon. I was really looking forward to this meal as I love the theaming of the restaurant. However this meal was very dissapointing for several reasons. Firstly we checked in and were sent to the bridge to be seated. It then took over 5 minutes to be seated (the place was not busy, maybe 5 other tables had people at them.) When we finally were seated we were given a nice table by the waters edge however it took a long time for our orders to be taken. Then when the food arrived it was not all that good. The chicken dish I had was so fatty that I could not really eat it, which was a shame as the sauce was really nice. We only ate 2 courses and were in there for 1 hour 20 minutes. I did want desert but we decided we had been in there long enough!! The other thing that I noticed more this time was the number of people taking pictures of us from the ride. I guess for every boat where a flash didn't go off there was maybe 6 or 7 boats where one did.

After lunch we headed over to Fantasyland as I wanted to do The canal boats.

Then we did Alice's maze, I really enjoy this attraction!!

Finally it was time to leave, so we stopped by to say good bye to the dragon guarding the castle on the way out.

So at 3pm we headed back to the car and sadly it was time to leave. We wanted to call in at Cite Europe on the way back. The drive to Calais was easy and we were in the Cite Europe car park by 5:40pm. We headed to tesco to get some champagne, then headed over to Carrefour to get a few boxes of red and white wine. Neither shops had one of the bottles of champagne that we wanted so we headed down to one of the specialist wine shops by the food area. I love this little shop and the owner is so nice. We found what we wanted and then grabbed a quick sandwich. By now it was 2 hours until our crossing so we decided to head over to the tunnel terminal to see if we could catch an earlier crossing. We were booked on the 9:20 but managed to change it to the 8:50. We went into the terminal building to get a coffee while we waited. Soon our letter was called. Our plan was to zoom through as soon as our letter was called in the hopes of getting a place on the 8:20 shuttle which we knew they were still loading (it was 8:10 at that time) The plan worked and we got a space on the 8:20pm crossing, an hour earlier than origionally booked. Soon we were on our way back to England. Once back we had an univentful drive back home where we finally arrived exchausted at 10:40pm. We decided to unpack the car, leave it all in the lounge and sort it out in the morning!!

Overall we had a great trip. I wish we had stayed a day longer as there were things we wanted to do but did not get to. Oh well, I guess that just means we have to plan to go back again!!

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing that. Your photos are so clear. Wasn't it a nice last day weather wise?

Thanks for sharing your holiday with us, love your photo's you have caught some excellent shots there.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. You took great photos:thumbsup2

Only one complaint, I am trying to read these on the sly at work and when I have a giant picture of Pluto on the screen it is hard to explain :)

Thanks for the complements guys, I really like photography and am trying to learn how to take better pictures. I just have a kodak easy share camera and am trying to learn all the manual settings on it so I can improve the shots I take. I'm trying to convince Pete I should get a DSLR camera before our big American adventure in August!! I want to take some wonderful pictures of Walts origional park when I am there. I am impressed with my BTMRR shot as it was taken whilst on the ride! Plus it was taken one handed as I was holding on to my bag with the other hand!!

Hildasmurial, I agree the last days weather was wonderful. Isn't it always the same though, the weather gets better the day you leave!!

As the other said great trip report with great pictures thanks for sharing :thumbsup2

Danauk, you could tell you were considering your shots. It shows when you were including foreground objects in to either show better perspective or the use of trees and bushes to better frame the shot. Very nice pics, DW will not let me get a DSLR no matter how much I badger so hope you do better.

Excellent pics - makes me wish I had taken more, but as my photo order is over £20 as it is perhaps its best I didn't:lmao:

Ok, now I have questions about eating at Cafe Mickey.

Did you book a special package with Hotel New York? Or do you think it is always an option to have a meal at Cafe Mickey? Were there people eating at Cafe Mickey not using vouchers? (In other words, open to non-hotel guests?)

I'm ususally not a fan of Swiss Family treehouse, but your pictures make it look inviting and interesting, may have to check it out! The Indy shots feel very authentic too. And there's that darn Alice maze again -- I really can't wait to check out something new to me (have only been to American parks).

We booked our trip online through the Disney site, when we checked in some people were using vouchers and some were paying cash. I think it is offered as people staying in the Disney hotels (with the exception of the New York and the Disneyland) can swap one breakfast for a character breakfast in the park. I maybe wrong here but was just guessing that people at the New York and Disneyland hotel were offered the Cafe Mickey breakfast instead. To be honest I was surprised we were offered it as I had not read on here that New York guests had been offered it before and we were not offered it on our last trip (although that was 4 years ago.)

Ooh, the Alice maze is a must, I really love this attraction. I think it is a great unique attraction for the Fantasyland at DLP.

Hopefully my next trip pictures will be even better, I ordered a DSLR camera yesterday!!

A super trip report ... will be fun to see if I can see you on any of our photos cos we were there at the some time as you !

The good Morning Fantasyland breakfast that you can have in the park is not a character breakfast. Ive never heard of anyone being able to swap a breakfast for one in Cafe Mickey before. I wonder if it was because it was very busy in the Hotel and not many had booked at Mickeys. Anyone can book a breakfast at Cafe Mickey- it is cheaper for on site guests ( a bit like an upgrade)

The hotel was not busy at all, the days we were there at most there were 5 other families/convention folkes eating at the same time as us! We were offered a choice of days for the cafe Mickey breakfast too. I guess we just got lucky!! We ate at the Manhatten restaurant and had drinks in the bar and it was not busy there either.

Thanks for sharing every, lovely detail of your trip :)

I hope you do. Based on your easy share photos I think you would love the freedom and creativity of a DSLR.
Of course not that I'm being selfish in wanting to see cracking photos of DL ;)

Aww great trippie & lovely pics. I read all these reports earlier this morning when everyone was still zzzzzzz. So nice to see pics of the park again.
