Good for him. I would have gone for the extra 12 million, too.

However, he needs to quit it with the "I really tried, really I did...." crap. Nobody is going to view him as the victim of the evil Red Sox organization because they ONLY offered him 40 million dollars. Just admit you wanted more money and pack your stuff. Don't try to get average people to agree that you were slighted by an offer of 40 million dollars.
