Dame Doris Poll

Do you think Dame Doris belongs on the DIS?

  • Yes, it's all just for fun

  • Maybe, as long as nobody I know gets pictured

  • Probably not, someone's feelings might get hurt

  • NO WAY! I am setting a better example for my kids.

Lets vote, and find out what DISboard members really want to do about Dame Doris.

I just don't want anyone to think I'm the one dumping on others :confused3

I could care less what anyone wears.
Doris

put me firmly in the "Let's dump Doris" car.

Curious. There are 4 votes for it's just for fun but those voters have chosen not to identify themselves by actually posting on this thread. I do not deny that there are people who honestly do not see anything wrong with Dame Doris but you should be willing to stand up for your beliefs and post, not just vote.

While I understand that this is a private message board, owned by a private owner, and therefore I have no real say in content. I would very much like for Dame Doris is not be a part of the DIS community

Can I have another option? ;)

I'd vote to keep her... as long as she's funny and chooses truly outrageous clothes.

As it is, the clothes aren't that bad, and her remarks aren't that funny. :rolleyes1

Very well said! And a good point. I think the voting is just to organize the opinions into one location, easily visible and counted. Perhaps DIS owners do watch what we want.

Dame Doris' comments were in very poor taste. Who made her an authority on how people should dress. I did not find her article to be funny at all.

JMHO, but I thought it was all in fun. I have no issues with the dame.

I agree about the comments, but PLEASE people it is all a joke.
I think photos should totally be allowed as long as faces are removed. I feel that most who are concerned about the photos are the biggest 'fashion offenders'. If I ended up on Doris' list I would laugh - because it's a joke! People need to make light of something silly like this and don't take yourself too seriously. It's silly, yes, but if you don't like it, don't look.

Because if they raise there hand and say they think it is fun then you and the others who hate it will be all over them saying what idiots they are for thinking it is funny.

I didn't vote. I could care less whether it stays or go. Just like TV, if I don't like it I don't look at it.

I totally agree. I didn't vote either.

I think this could be alot of fun. I just hope that they are not going to show faces.

I hope it is a go!

I think the idea was just approached the wrong way. As mentioned in the other thread (the welcoming thread), I think it would be more helpful to show pics of comfortable shoes and clothes. I also like the idea of "Doris found me" and post pic of people wearing lime green with no captions...just leave it as "Doris Found Me". If pics of fashions "don't"s are to be used balance it out with pics of "Do"s..."The Do's and Don'ts of Disney"...cut out everyone's face...and post more Dos then Don'ts. And make sure the "don'ts" are truely awful, beyond doubt truely awful...scandelous awful, not just "I wouldn't wear that so it must be tacky".

That said, fashion do's would be much more helpful.

I have seen things like this before with fashion do's and donts and I just don't think the DIS is the place for it. I saw what Dame Doris wrote about those people photographed and frankly, I thought it was a bit much. That sort of thing belongs in a fashion magazine, not on the DIS boards that are supposed to have a positive vibe. :)

As i said in my previous post I know there are some who honestly do not see anything wrong with Dame Doris and I have no fight with these people. They, as I, am entitlted to their own opinion. My arguement was strictly about voters who do not post.
I think it is perfectly all right for someone else not to find Dame Doris offensive, but if you are willing to vote you should be willing to post.

I will also say this, If any of my fellow voters that would like to see Dame Doris fired should disparage your perfectly honest opinion' that there is nothing wrong with Dame Doris, I will be the first person to request that this thread be closed.

We should be here only to state our personal feelings and noone has the right to mock or disparage our position on this matter.

The same people objecting to her publicly stating her opinion about what is or is not fashionable don't seem to have any problem pushing their opinions on the rest of us about what is or isn't funny or appropriate or whatever about Dame Doris...

If you don't like it--just don't look at what she has to say...nobody is forced to read Dame Doris--or this thread...

Let freedom ring!
