I'm not sure if any of you all were aware of this, but if you have any damaged or scratched Disney dvds, you can have them replaced by Disney for a nominal fee. I e-mailed them, and received a response this morning.

You have to mail the dvd along w/ the case, and your name address and telephone number to:

Replacement Program; P.O. Box 3100; Neenah, WI 54957-3100. Make your check payable to: WDFHE in the amount of $6.95.

I'm going to mail a bunch of dvds out this week. With kids, they're bound to get scratched.

That is good info. I didnt know about the price. I do refer guests to them though when their DVDs are no longer working for whatever reason. You would not believe how many guests what to bring in old DVDs with no receipts for a brand new copy. One guest even asked me if there was a life-time guarantee on the DVD she bought from us. I just kindly remind the guests of the email address listed in their DVD case, and that has always solved the problem for me.

We have a local cd/dvd exchange store in our town that will re-coat the scratched disks for $2. We do this frequently and it seems a lot cheaper! Still it's good to know that is available.

Disney, I have heard of the movie stores doing something like this. Do they make them like new again? If so, I have a million non-Disney movies I wouldn't mind bringing in. I bought a scratch fixer/cleaner, but it doesn't help much.

We got $crewed doing this at our local cd/game exchange store (on 99E if anyone is in the Portland, Oregon area). We paid $3 each for 7 CD's to be fixed. Only one worked after they were done. The said it was not guaranteed, so they refused to refund any of our money!

Good to know about the replacement plan!

So it's $6.95 per DVD? That's not a bad deal. We are super cautious with our DVD's but still....

Yes, it's $6.95 per dvd, and they replace the whole thing w/ a brand new one w/ the cover and all. I'm so glad we keep the covers.

I have never had a problem with any of mine after they fixed them, so that's as good as new to me:goodvibes

I don't know that we would have any movies left without this - my DS(4) is VERY independent and likes to put his movies in himself:)

I live in Salt Lake - I don't know where you all are at, but if anyone is interested PM me and I can give you the name of the store.

We've got an old copy-vhs- of the Little Mermaid. We hadn't watched it in years, but decided to the other night. We have a huge old computer monitor that is configured to be a tv in the bedroom- it's nice it's 44 inch. We were watching it and the part where lightning strikes the ship makes the screen go blank-- every time-- it's funny. We didn't realize how bad a shape that was in, must have something to do with the kids watching it over and over when they were little. Must also have something to do with why we haven't watched that and other Disney flicks in awhile lol. Anyways- jealous of those who can 'upgrade' their dvd's.

im in sw washington and my local game crazy does this service and works great with dvd's and cd's use them all the time

At my part time job (Hastings) we also resurface for 2.00. Seems to work well and much cheaper than mailing and paying $6.95 or whatever.

50sja, I would contact Disney. I bet they would replace it with a brand-new dvd, even it is a VHS. I believe it's their policy on all movies, not just dvds. It's worth trying. You do have to have the case to the movie.

How long does it generally take to get your new DVD's? I'm thinking of mailing our High School Musical movies, but my daughter can't be without them for too long! :)
