Has anyone had their luggage damaged and had it delivered to their room by ME and nothing said. we traveled yesterday and last night when we were not in room the luggage arrived with a 10 rip in it...no note no mention of it. I am assuming it was the airline but I did not retrieve it from the airline Disney did and delivered it to me that way....there is no way I can take my stuff home in this...who do I contact...has anyone dealt with this issue.. thanks

File a claim down at the resort front desk.

You do not forfeit your rights regarding damaged baggage when you use the automagical delivery to your room.

I have had luggage destroyed by the airline. They did not cover it and only cover certain very limited damage. I don't believe they will cover a rip but the only way you will know for sure is to call the airline and ask.

I have also had Disney loose my luggage and blame it on the airline only for it to show up 24 hours later with a tag stating it was misdelivered to the wrong resort. Even if Disney did it I highly doubt you will get them to take the blame and pay for it.

Good luck. I hope you have better luck with your airline covering any of the cost than I did with American Airlines.

I went down and everyone was at a "meeting" they offered to get me a suitcase from Wal Mart...but at least I have something to get my stuff home in I guess. They didn't say anything about filing a claim with SW. They sent someone out really quick. they couldn't find a rolling duffle which is what I had so just got some small suitcase so hope it works....I just am not a fighter...never have dealt with anything like this before, so did not know what to ask for.

I am so glad to hear Disney was kind enough to get you a new suitcase. I love hearing stories that have a good ending.

It was a big 10" rip and I am surprised alot of stuff didn't fall out but maybe because there was a big travel cosmetic bag under the rip...bright Minnie bag so I was surprised that they didn't notice the big hole....this bag was brand new too...first use...also the bag and stuff was sopping wet...the other bags were fine...almost like it fell off or was dragged from the cart...but at least now I have something to take my stuff home in(I also am changing to SSR in a week for end of trip and was worried about getting the stuff there) so hopefully this bag will work. Thanks for replies...

It does stink to have your suitcase destroyed. Mine that got destroyed had been used only two times and was expensive too. I would have been thrilled to get some sort of replacement.

The most important thing is that you can finish up your vacation without worrying about what you will use to get to SSR and home.

Respectfully, until your luggage was located at another resort, Disney didn't know it was at another resort. If they'd known, they could have retrieved it immediately and delivered it to you. Simple logistics.

And yes, I DO realize they should have been able to determine where it was by the GPS tracking done on all the luggage.

The luggage tag had a time on it showing it got to the other resort shortly after we checked in and they still didn't know it was at the other resort. I called every two hours during the day and till it showed up they still claimed they didn't know where it was and then it showed up in our room while we were in having dinner the day after we checked in.

The point was that they stuck to the story that American lost the luggage when it ws never American it was always Disney. The truth goes a lot further than a lie.

I forgot to add that when I first called and they blamed it on American they said they would take care of it and call American right away. They never called American and lied about that as well so I couldn't even get emergency money from the airline after the 24 hours.

Right. I'm NOT excusing Disney. The system didn't work the way it should.

Anyway, it's possible your suitcase fell through the cracks - i.e. wasn't scanned - so Disney disn't have a record of receiving it. Wrong, I know. But since it was tagged, it got shipped anyway. It SHOULD have gotten sorted for and shipped to YOUR resort, but didn't. All along, since it wasn't scanned, as far as Disney knew, AA had it - after all, DME had no record of it.

Finally somebody at the other resort realized it was in the wrong place, MARKED IT AS SUCH with a label that was probably intentionally not removed, and sent it to your resort - where it was delivered to you late.

Again, IT'S NOT AN EXCUSE, it's an EXPLANATION - and since I wasn't there, only a POSSIBLE one.

Groups that test luggage, including Consumer Reports, found cheap luggage sold in stores like WalMart isn't made well enough to last even one flight.

In September, we had a suitcase damaged at some point on its way to Pop Century (we flew US Air). Once our suitcase was delivered to our room (after our other bags had already arrived earlier), it was accompanied by a second suitcase and a latter from Magical Express.

The letter stated that our suitcase had been damaged (destroyed actually LOL) at some point and they claimed responsibility for it. To fix the problem, they had given us a brand new Disney Cruise Line suitcase instead.

Luckily it didn't seem that anything had been lost from our suitcase as the entire side had been ripped off. It came back to us plastic wrapped to help keep it together. I was very happy that Disney took responsibility and remedied the situation before we even knew there was a problem! :wizard:

I would have wanted one of those nice rolling suitcases from the gift shop! That has WDW logos on it.

I don't know how it will work out since you aren't at the airport anymore. But I had my suitcase destroyed at MCO while attempting to fly out on Southwest (short version - checked bag, flight then canceled, got bag back and it was destroyed even though it never went anywhere). I took my luggage straight over to the SWA baggage office and they took me back to a secret back room filled with my new suitcases and let me pick the color of the new one that I wanted. :upsidedow It was a decent suitcase (still using it 4 1/2 years later). They also gave me the option of leaving my suitcase there and they'd send it off for repair and/or replacement if I preferred that. My suitcase had already been on it's last legs though, so I just took the bag.

The damage to my bag basically looked like it got caught in between two moving objects and was sorta twisted into a spiral. :lmao:
