I live half hour south of the port....

My home sustained minor damage--the biggest was the fence turning to matchsticks. My screen has some tears and is missing a support beam that is at the bottom of our pool and our solar heater is missing a pipe.

Other than that--we got through okay. A store front less than a half mile down the road lost its front windows.

The news says the port will remain closed until they at minimum verify the location of all the buoys and that they are in the right places. A restaurant by Suncruz casino's caught fire after the hurricane--it still had power--but burned...do not know how badly.

We are without power and my hubby cannot return to work.

Thank you for the prayers--and I hope everyone else turned out okay.

Lisa I'm so glad that you were able to return home safely and to not too much damage.

Prayers for yourself, friends and neighbours at this time.

blessed be

Lisa, thank you for updating us. I've been thinking about you and everyone else down there. You're all in my prayers.

Lisa - so glad you made it home and don't have too much damage.

The resturant isn't Grills is it? I would hate to see that place gone.

Good luck with the clean-up!

Glad you didn't have much damage. I have relatives in the Bocca Raton area and the same thing happened to them. No fence, no bushes/trees down and the screen in the canal.

Glad no one was hurt.

Hi Lisa-

Glad to hear that your home came through this relatively unscathed. Have you found your cat yet?

Erin :D

Lisa ... Glad your are OK and thank you so much for taking the time to update us.

It's good to hear from you again Lisa. I wish you the best as you piece it all back together. :goodvibes

It is good to hear that your damage was minor. My thoughts and prayers go to everyone in Florida. If there is anything that you need just ask.

Lisa, I'm glad you guys are all safe and the house had minor damage. We lost our screen and fence during Charley, so I know how annoying it can be, yet so lucky.

I have a great screen guy if you need it.

this is what i found on the port canaveral website.....

HURRICANE FRANCES AFFECTS PORT CANAVERAL OPERATIONS

The waters of Port Canaveral will not be re-opened for any vessels until at least Wednesday, September 8. This applies to all types of vessels, including recreational as well as cargo and cruise. The U.S. Coast Guard must first do a full inspection of the harbor and approaches to determine if there are any submerged or other hazards in the water and to determine what emergency dredging may be necessary.

Canaveral Port Authority employees of the Operations Department will need to report for work on Tuesday, September 7. Power has not been fully restored to the Port and it is voluntary for administrative employees to report on Tuesday. The Canaveral Port Authority administrative offices are expected to be fully open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8.

For the most current information on Port operations, please call the public advisory information line at 321-783-7831 and listen for the prompts. All information is subject to change.

and i heard on the news that the kennedy space center was hit hard. so if you hear more please let us know

Thank you so much for taking time to update all of us who are/were so worried about all of our DIS friends.

Best wishes for a speedy return to your normal life.

So how stinky was your laundry!?!? Glad ya'll didn't sustain too much damage!!!

Again thanks for the update!

Lisa I'm glad you were able to teturn home safely and without too much damage! Thankyou for all the updates you kept giving throughout this whole thing. I will continue to pray for you and all of FL.

Cheryl

Glad to hear you and your family are okay.

Lisa, thanks for posting & glad to hear you're alright.

I heard on the news here last night that it was going to take several days before they could open up the port because of the buoys already mentioned & also because of the huge sand bars that had developed under the water & block the entrance/exit to the dock.

Not much computer time--hubby limits to 10min per day to preserve battery and get Ivan updates.

1. My laundry is really really stinky---and I'm leaving it at that :)
2. Kitty number 5 is now pumpkin the hurricane wonder kitty. I do not know what she did for safety, but she was meowing on our doorstep when we returned :) :) And she is now the most loving cat ever--but still insists on going outside. We are camping on our back porch b/c the house is too darn hot. But that is nothing compared to others and their home damage inthe area.
3. Port Canaveral has sand problems. The channel is usually 41 feet and Frances pushed sand in so the depth is only 27 feet. It can be reopened at 37 feet. So the Army Corps of Engineers will have to dredge it and they think it will be Friday or the weekend at the earliest...so sounds like the Thursday cruisers will be out of Fort Lauderdale again.
4. No the restaurant was NOT grills--it was a new restuarant at the Sun Cruz Casino dock that was supposed to be operated by Sun Cruz or at least some of its owners.

That is all to report for now--there is lots of damage in the county--but my home was spared.

Kennedy Space Center lots some panels on the Vehicle Assembly Buidling and has sustained the most damage it ever has for any hurricane.

Schools are closed until Monday, mostly due to power concerns.

Hope everyone enjoys their cruises--wish you could take us with you!!!

Due to power constraints, I will only check this thread--can someone post on Castaway Cay and on how that fared and where the "mystery" cruise went to? Thanks!

Lisa - thanks so much for reporting in. Glad to hear it wasn't Grills. Thank you especially for the update on the port. Now we know what delay is.

Glad to hear your home and family are safe.
