Hi,

I did a quick search and could not find an answer to this our trip is coming up quickly. My mom has purchased portable oxygen concentrator (Inogen g3) within the last 30 days, and she paid for it out of pocket. We are leaving for our trip soon and I am concerned about possible damage (accidentally dropping it etc.) Is it possible to insure the equipment? Is it through specific companies or could I just call her car insurance carrier?

any help is appreciated

Check with her homeowner's or renter's insurance.
She may find it is already covered or she may be able to take out a small, extra policy from them. That would be more likely than thru car insurance.

Also check with the company because they would probably have been asked this before and may have suggestions.

Just remember though that Homeowners policies generally have substantial deductibles. And you want to be careful about small claims against your HO policy. They do look at your claim history at renewal time. Not saying they will, but insurance companies are notorious for being unscrupulous and nonrenewing policies they want to get rid of and claim history is a legit reason for them to nonrenew. Worked in the insurance industry (for an insurance company...not an agency) and I know the ugly side of the things they can and do do. :/
