Dallas/Ft. Worth people... need help quick!!

So it's Texas. We need to be there by October 1, 2004.

I don't think we are going to have a chance to go down and check it out very much so I need all the help I can get from all my wonderful friends on the DIS.

We are looking to rent a 1 bed w/ study or 2 bed apartment for 6 months off the bat. I can do a lot of the research on the internet but having people in the area guide me is invaluable.

What area's should I be looking at? Quite, close to everything, not too expensive but not old and run down. We would like a newer complex with nicer people. Not a college dorm area!

Any towns I should go to or stay away from as far as apartments. Any complexes that you have heard of that are good or bad? Please ask anyone you know.. collegues that may be renting... anything.

I appreciate your help. You can imagine how hard this is do when you can't go and tour the apartments. I am relying on advice and the apartmentguides.com, apartments.com, rent.com...everything for floor plans and such but you can be invaluable to helping me determine the BEST area to be in...

Let's narrow it down just a little- where will his office be? Or your school?

Once we get a general area of town, we can get to work!

(Did you say Irving/Las Colinas before? There are lots of nice, clean, upscale apartments in that area.)

. Be prepared - the DFW metroplex is huge, and some roads are best to avoid during rush hour if at all possible. If you can tell us the office location, what you want in an apartment, and your price range, some of us around here can help you out.

I used to live in the Valley Ranch section of Irving which is near Las Colinas. If that is where the job is, you should be able to find a really nice place. It's not a cheap area for the metroplex, but there are tons of new apartments, shopping, restaurants, etc. Since you are open to a one-bedroom, then I am assuming there are no school-age kids??

I think the Valley Ranch area is nice. I live on the edge of Coppell and Lewisville, right across from a big mall, this area is nice as well with lots of new apartments being built. I think it would all depend on where the office is, where you have to drive to each day.

I have to second KristaTX on this. The DFW area is huge! You really need to pinpoint a few areas to figure this out. I would also consider Valley Ranch if being near the airport is important. I would also consider some of the apartments on the near west side of Fort Worth (they are just outside of downtown so they have a great location). Also in Fort Worth, I would consider the CityView area- lots of nice, new apartment homes, many with garages. The Flower Mound area is nice but I am completely unfamiliar with any apartments there- just tons of new construction. Good luck and feel free to e-mail or PM me is I can help.

Thank you for all the responses so quickly. You can always count on your DIS friends.

Unfortunately there was a turn and we won't be coming to Texas. It's a very long story but it's a good thing that this stuff came out now about his new boss, because it would have been a nightmare working for him!!
