Hi all,
I've been lurking for a month or so and have been so happy with the info I have received here. I will be at the DLR June 10-16th (and no we did not know what was going to happen that week before we booked). My husband and I have a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old and would never have chosen such a busy week with the opening and all but have decided to embrace the excitement. A few questions . . . BTW I went to DL every year as a kid but had not been there for quite some time until last summer when we took the kids for the first time and we decided to go every year from now on!!
Daisy Duck - my daughter would love to see her and get her autograph. I booked a character meal (the Mickey one at PPH) on our last morning of the trip as it seemed like that was the best chance to see her. Any other spottings of Daisy at DLR or DCA? If there was a place we could check from time to time I would love to see her earlier and not wait until the last day (long story why the breakfast is on our last day).
Our plan for the 14th was hit DL as early as we can. We are thinking of getting an AP so won't get a MM from a park hopper but will be checking into the DLH (moving from Dessert Palms that day) on Thursday. Anyone successfully convince DLH to give them a key before their room was ready to use MM the day of check-in? We don't want to have to upgrade our park hoppers on the 14th or 15th as those days seem like they will be madness FYI (and we want the AP discounts). Although honestly with the little ones I can't imagine us being ready for MM anyway - just wanted to cover my bases.
Anyway, rides at DL early Thur, BBB appt for my daughter at 11, Goofy's Kitchen res at 5:30 and we figured if DL was a mess we would enjoy DTD or the pools at DLH. Sound reasonable?
For the 15th we just can't wait in crazy lines with the little ones so will probably be at DLR most of the day. We were thinking about getting a sitter that night and the adults trying to get into DCA (after 7 or so). But here's my question - I'm assuming they will hit a capacity max and start hand stamping. If you don't get in before they hit the max can you ever get in? Will the evening be too late or do they track the numbers in a way that if they get low enough they let new people in?
If there are capacity issues is there a difference if you have a park hopper or an AP as far as re-entry? What happens if they hit capacity, you haven't entered the parks yet but you have a lunch reservation - is that a way to get in?
I would love to here any info anyone hears about the 14th and 15th as we will be there and want to see as much as we can without our kids completely freaking out. Luckily we are at the Disneyland Hotel those days and can have some great pool time worst case.
Oh and I have WOC questions. For those of you who have seen it in non-traditional places - in front of Little Mermaid, by the ferris wheel, symphony swings, etc how does that work. Do the CMs start herding people out when the rides close and you just convince them that you can stay?
