I'm a lactose intolerant vegetarian which means eating out is always a challenge for me. The sit down restaurants are really great at accomodating my needs but can be really pricey. Does anyone have any good snack/counter service suggestions for meat and dairy free items? (Eggs are actually ok.)

boardwalk bakery has a very nice fruit plate , but it comes with yogurt to dip the fruit in.
they also have a veggie panini.
hurricane hannahs at beach club cs has a veggie wrap.
roaring forks at wilderness lodge has a veggie sand. that I tried and it was good.
columbia harbor house at mk has veggie chili and hummus and broccoli salw sandwich.
most cs places have fries on the menu.
you could get nachos without cheese at cantina san angel in the world showcase.
the mara has falafel pita.
you should be able to find something at wolfgang puck cs place in downtown disney, such as pasta with sauce, or a salad.
I had the veggie sand at saratoga springs artist palate and it was good.

ABC Commissary and Rosie's in MGM would be fine--Rosie's has a veggie cheeseburger, but I'm sure you could request it without.

In Epcot, Tangierine Cafe and Sunshine Seasons should work. The veggie Cuban sandwich at the latter has cheese, unfortunately. Liberty Inn has a veggie burger. There's shaved ice in Japan.

In MK, there may be dairy in the broccoli slaw in the Lighthouse sandwich, but you might either ask for it without or just opt for the chili. Pecos Bill and Cosmic Ray's both have veggie burgers, and Ray's also has a wrap, but the menu doesn't say what's in it. There's a wagon in Adventureland with egg rolls and samosas.

In AK, well, there's not much for vegetarians at all--I guess the idea of Animal Kingdom is to eat animals? Nothing vegetarian at the Yak and Yeti CS, Pizzafari just has cheese pizza, and the fruit plate at Flame Tree has yogurt. There's a veggie burger at Restaurantosaurus (which is served with NON-vegetarian McDonald's fries).

I ordered the veggie burger at Pecos Bill's and it was nasty. I would stay away from it if at all possible. Also, the egg roll stand has been converted to a Turkey Leg stand . Pinocchio's Village Haus has a kid's uncrustable PB&J meal which might do in a pinch. I have also heard that many of the chicken salads can be made without the meat.

Good to know about PB's burger. I haven't had it, because CHH is just down the path. And that's bad news about the wagon! I saw it, but it wasn't open. :(

They just pick it off, I think. People have reported finding little pieces of chicken in them.

thanks everyone. these are all great suggestions. i'm hoping that i can find enough things to get by while we are out and about but i will also bring some snacks with me just in case. i don't want to get sick and unfortunately, any amount of dairy will definitely make me sick. :(

Most of the salads also have cheese pre-mixed in. (I have been successful--I've watched it--in getting a salad that had never had chicken on it when I was clear that I was allergic to chicken.)

Some people have reported that they can get specially prepared CS meals by going in and ordering them then coming back to eat in 30 minutes or so. If you're willing to try this, I'd recommend the salad at the Liberty Inn (EP) since it has beans in it.

I was successful in getting specially prepared pasta at the Riverside food court, although I did need to ask a few times before they got me a chef. Once he came out though he was very helpful and almost seemed excited by the option of doing something different.

ETA: I'm pretty sure that the uncrustable PB&Js have dairy in them.

I just ran an uneducated eye over the ingredients of the uncrustable in my freezer and I did not see any of the obvious hidden dairy ingredients. Of course, I could be wrong since I don't know all of them.

If the OP is allergic to dairy and not just "intolerant", then she may be in trouble. I'm sure that there is hidden dairy in LOTS of processed food used in the CS restaurants and would make eating at them virtually impossible if you were allergic to dairy.

mom2meiko: I would recommend that you bring your own food if you're worried. You are welcome to bring in a cooler (without wheels) as long as it is small enough to fit in a locker. I also see a lot of coolers in stroller baskets.

I appears you are correct. I was remembering a previous poster who didn't like them because her allergic kids couldn't eat them. However, I notice that they have corn syrup, so, I suppose her kids may have been allergic to corn rather than dairy.

For the OP, here's an ingredient list from the smuckers website:

BREAD: ENRICHED UNBLEACHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, MALTED BARLEY FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMIN MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID), WATER, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, YEAST, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN OIL AND/OR SOYBEAN OIL, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF: WHEAT GLUTEN, SALT, DOUGH CONDITIONERS (MAY CONTAIN ONE OR MORE OF: DIACETYL TARTARIC ESTERS OF MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES (DATEM), MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, ETHOXYLATED MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, SODIUM STEAROYL LACTYLATE, CALCIUM PEROXIDE, ASCORBIC ACID, AZODICARBONAMIDE, L-CYSTEINE), YEAST NUTRIENTS (MAY CONTAIN ONE OR MORE OF: MONOCALCIUM PHOSPHATE, CALCIUM SULFATE, AMMONIUM SULFATE), CALCIUM PROPIONATE (MAINTAIN FRESHNESS), CORNSTARCH, ENZYMES (WITH WHEAT). PEANUT BUTTER: SELECT ROASTED PEANUTS, DEXTROSE, VEGETABLE MONOGLYCERIDES (FROM PALM OIL), SALT. STRAWBERRY JAM: STRAWBERRIES, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CORN SYRUP, SUGAR, PECTIN, CITRIC ACID, POTASSIUM SORBATE ADDED AS A PRESERVATIVE.
