Hi, I will be visiting WDW with my 2 year old daughter who is allergic to dairy and eggs.

I am seeing mixed information about whether or not Dole Whips are dairy free. Does anyone have first hand info?

Also, I read that Sci-Fi Dine-In has dairy free milkshakes. Is there any quick service locations at DHS that have them too?

TIA!

The Dole Whips are dairy free. I even called Disney to verify as my son and I can't have dairy either. They confirmed that both the pineapple and orange flavors are dairy (and gluten) free but the vanilla is not as it contains casein. They assured me that the pineapple and orange are dispensed from separate nozzles than the vanilla so you don't have to worry about cross contamination with that. Depending on the severity of the allergy, it might still be beneficial to notify the cast member when ordering that way they can doubly ensure to keep your order away from the dairy. I was informed though that there should really be no risk of daily contamination.

That should have read dairy contamination. And sorry I have no idea about the milkshakes. Last I heard was it was hit or miss getting g the dairy free milkshakes at Sci Fi because they do not have a dedicated allergy mixer for the milkshakes and the staff do the generally want to clean the mixer and risk the cross contamination. This is all just what I have heard though. I have no first hand experience.

In case you are planning to go to Disney Springs Ghiradelli has a non dairy ice cream/sorbet. A lot of TS have some type of dairy free dessert such as sorbet or cookie but not sure if egg free or not.

The pineapple Dole Whip did not have dairy last time we checked the allergy binder.
I've found DHS to be the least accomodating to allergies of all the parks. They don't have any 'special' treats that you can find in other parks Unless you want the standard popsicle, fruit cup or Enjoy Life cookie you are out of luck there.
We've had dairy free ice cream (Rice Dream or Tofutti) at The Plaza and Sunshine Seasons. The only places we've had any luck getting a dairy free milkshake were at All Star Movies QS and at 1900 PF.

I got something at Beaches and cream but I'm not sure it was dairy free or just lactose free. Since then though I've lost what I guess would be called lactose intolerance.

But I've been following Dole Whip and get where ever I can find it and according to Dole all the fruit flavors are dairy free and even considered vegan.

Dole Whip is vegan and apparently, tofutti and rice dream ice creams are available at Beaches and Cream and in the Main St Ice Cream Parlour.

I've also heard Sci-Fi can do a dairy-free milkshake, although they use a shared blender, which may be an issue of cross contamination for an allergy sufferer.

Thank you for the responses! I would probably skip the milkshake at Sci Fi if there's a risk of cross contamination. It's just not worth the risk of dd having a reaction. It stinks that they have a dairy free shake but not a blender to make it in! How much could a blender cost? :confused3

I'm excited about the dole whip though! And ice cream on Main Street. Yay!

Get a Dole Whip at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom. They don't serve any flavor but pineapple, so you reduce the risk of cross contamination with the vanilla. Tamu Tamu in Animal Kingdom also sells it, but they might sell vanilla soft-serve too. Tamu Tamu will put a tasty adult beverage on it too:) For the adults obviously.

Pineapple dole whip (actually, all the fruit flavor Dole Whips) are dairy-free. According to the manufacturer, they are actually vegan and top-8 allergy free (they do contain a coconut product though).

I've had success getting a DF milkshake from tune in lounge (attached to 50s PT) although I can't speak to cross-contamination (I'm not that sensitive.) Also not sure if they do that on a regular basis or if I caught a bit of pixie dust.

For ice cream, I'd think you'd have the best likelihood of success at the scoop shop down by ToT, although I don't know if they have DF ice cream or not.

My son had a DF milkshake at sci fi in 2014. If there was a risk of cross contamination they didn't tell us... You could ask for a dairy free sundae instead. The only place we went where they didn't have a safe alternative for him was San Angel. As a food allergy kid WDW has definitely been his favorite destination. He still talks about some of his "chef friends".

Oh, and also, there was a point in time that Dole Whips had some dairy in it, that's probably why you have seen both. They have been safe for years though. My son just had one at Disneyland a few months ago.

Yes at one point they all had a a bit of dairy in them but now only the vanilla and chocolate flavors have the sodium casenate.
