Our soon-to-be six month old baby doesn't care for dairy products. My wife is breast feeding her and as such, she avoids all dairy. Planning out our upcoming trip has been difficult because my wife can't enjoy some of the foods she loves at Disney.

It seems to me I've seen some threads on here on that subject. People who've been to Disney World and emailed someone at Disney and in return received a list of restaurants that are especially helpful in accomodating a dairy allergy and even a list of snacks.

Can someone help me with the email address? And if anyone has any tips on where to eat or how to plan to accomodate a dairy allergy, I'd appreciate it.

I'm vegan, so I've been looking up dairy-free menu items, as well. I don't know if your baby eats ice cream, but the ice cream parlor on Main Street has dairy-free ice cream, and apparantly all the table service restaurants in the parks do, too. You just have to ask for it. And I'm pretty sure, from what I've read, you can get soy or rice milk subsituted for certain things at most restaurants with a few days notice. When I made my ADR's, the CM noted that I was vegan on each one. So I'm guessing you could do the same for a dairy allergy. I think it gives the restaurants a notice or something when they do that. But I would call ahead a few days ahead of time to see what can be done! I've read good things about talking to the chefs about making special items. They seem to like it!

My daughter has a dairy allergy and Disney was the BEST place to go. What I suggest is that when you make your priority seatings you make a note that you have a dairy allergy. When you are seated at the table the chef will come out and talk to you about your allergy and explain which items you can have and which you can't. In many cases they offered to make special meals for my daughter.

When you make the reservation they will also provide you with the phone number for a dietary specialist who you can talk to. They will then e-mail you a list of the locations that carry non-dairy food.

Most locations had glutten free brownies, cookies, and carmen popcorn that could be purchased. The glutten free hamburger buns were gross. My daughter would not eat them. There were a lot of good options. She was never hungry.

The baker at the Boardwalk bakery even baked special batches of muffins for her that we could pick up each morning. Overall I would say that we had a very good experience. We will have to go through it again in April as it doesn't look like she is growing out of her dairy allergy.

Good luck.
PM me if you have more questions.

Thanks for your response. I called Disney Dining over the weekend and had them note it on each of our ADRs that my wife was allergic to dairy. But when I asked about the number for a dietary specialist, the CM had no clue what I was talking about.

Does anyone have either the phone number or email address for Disney's dietary specialist?

This varies from restaurant to restaurant. If you PM me with the restaurants you're interested in, I can give you phone numbers for those that I happen to have ADRs for.

You should also send an e-mail to WDW's special diets contact:

I don't know anything about dairy free restaurants, but I hear Boma is great about accomodating vegetarians. I hear they even make special deserts for vegetarians. So you should try to get an ADR there. I'm sure they would work with you.

Although if I were you, I'd tell them to hold the ginger sauce, if you know what I mean.

PM me and I'll send you some pictures from our last meal there.

Or not. Whatever.

Mickey Ice Cream bars are FREE from August 26-September 22, if you'll be there then.

So there you have it.

Dairy free.

As usual, post a thread and the stalkers come out!

dqpowell: thanks for the email address. I've already received a list back from them.

Ok.

Let's consider THIS possiblility... hypothetically of course...what happens if someone had arranged to send someone a gift basket filled with expensive Ontario artisan cheeses, yogurts, yak butter, curds and quark and...errrr... some homemade muffins?! Anywho... would the someone who had, hypothetically, arranged this package be able to recover the full costs of sad basket? If someone suddenly felt the need to cancel for some reason? Hypothetically. Of course.

And: What are the symptoms of dairy allergy?

Plus: Would merely holding "spectator status" in The Three Cheese Relay Event? Pose any sort of danger?

Also, finally: I need a good butter tart recipe.

Cheers, Mel.
