Dairy allergy

I run a group on FB that has a ton a info on traveling to Disney with Food Allergies. My son has been Allergic to Dairy, Peanuts, Tree nuts and sesame since 11 months. He's 17 now. We travel to WDW 2-3 times a year, just so he can eat out at restaurants without stress. Feel free to check it out Facebook.com/groups/disneyfoodallergygroup Almost 1200 members now.

Disney was 3 of the most relaxing vacations I have had with my son.

My son has a dairy, peanut, tree nut and egg white allergy.

First trip with him he was 22 months and milk contact made him have hives on his face and if he put his fingers in his mouth...throwing up. But Disney was a breeze. We only did 2 TS places as well. He had tofutti or rice dream or both (can't recall). At chef mickeys I remember the chef saying we cou don't use the shots for fear of cross contamination, aka run on the same line, but he had them.

The next trip he was almost 5 and again no problems other then my dtr spilling milk in our room and he got hives as we were walking around the MK. He had a Benadryl and that was the only day he napped.

Last trip he was 9 and his dairy allergy was decreasing. We stayed at the Poly and I asked the chef at captain cooks for his ice cream and she brought out the mix for a pineapple dole whip and there was no dairy. She gave him a huge sample! Needless to say he ate a lot of those. One day they opened a brand new package of Oreos and asked me how many I wanted...for free! He was in love with the chicken strips and fries from the Poly and claimed they were the best. The 2 bad things about that trip were in down town Disney, we found out wolf gang pucks was changing its pizza dough to include milk (really??) and he loved that pizza, with out cheese. And we went to eat at a burger place there (forget the name) but they didn't have any dairy free buns and I didn't bring one he could have.

Anyways, even the carts had an allergy book. No one batted an eye when I asked about ingredients, seriously you all must get that blank stare..people are like what are ingredients? I ask if there is butter and they are like yes, wait no.

I am looking forward to our next trip in 25 months..24 1/2 because his allergies are less and less. He can now eat almonds and cashews and can have cooked milk. We go back to the allergist in 2 weeks so we will see what is up and what and if he gets to do another food challenge.

Seriously it is one of the least stressful allergy places!
