Yes, Andrew will live on campus. FSU is here in Tallahassee, but he wants to be on his own. It would much more cost effective for him to live at home, but we think it's better for him to live on campus and get some independence. It'll be much easier for me when he leaves in August to know that he's only about 20 minutes away from the house! Maybe I'll even be able to hold back the tears when we move him into the dorm! Nope, the tears will be there and he'll be sooooo embarrassed!

I would send PJ on campus too if school was close.... because the few kids that are commuting here to and from school are really having wars at home.. they want independence but parents want some structure because of the younger kids at home...

I'd cry too.... I have photos of my move to the dorms and my friends at the time and I were bawling! The counselors around here are telling kids to stay on campus for the first month and not come home... this will allow them to forge friendships at college so they don't feel isolate there....

Well, if I know Andrew, we won't see much of him at all even though he'll be here in town. I don't think making him stay away for a month will be a problem!:rotfl: He will be enjoying college life and being able to call his own shots. I know we'll be seeing him when he needs $$, or food, or needs to wash his underwear!:lmao: I'm excited for him and I think he made a good choice and he'll fit in well. While it's hard watching my baby grow up, I'm so glad that he's turned into such a fine young man with a good head on his shoulders.

Yes, You and DH have done a fabulous job brining up this wonderful young man!!! Any girl would be lucky to have him come home with her!

PJ wants to go to school 2.5 hours away..but I have a sorority sister and her family that live 1.5 miles from campus...plus my Dsis has a good friend that is 3 miles from campus..so I'm pretty comfortable.. there are like 6 kids down there currently that she is good friends with.... We have told PJ that the first semester she can NOT have her car down there... We want her to get use to college life, being responsible for getting her own hiney up and off to class even when she'd rather be catchin' rays of sunshine....We told her she could have her car between thanksgiving and Christmas... and if her GPA was good then she could take her car back with her for the rest of the year...

As freshman it was highly recommended by the university that we didn't have our cars...and my parents stuck to that..by gosh the school said so; so no way are you getting your car... then my parents got mad cause I never came home! LOL I was busy anyway..between school work and the marching band/football games, etc I didn't have time to come home... They finally gave me my car when I was a junior and moved into the sorority house.... now this led to weekend road trips.... LOL

Glad that Andrew made a choice and I agree that it is better for thier independence to live on campus. I went to college that was a 14 hour car trip from home so commuting wasn't an option.

Checking in late today- didn't get online as we were at a funeral and then Dh's classes. We stopped at DTD for an ice cream at Ghiredeli's on the way home and the Disney survey people stopped us to ask some questions. Some were kind of funny since they only wanted impressions of this trip for things and we had only been there long enough to look around the store and then order our ice cream to go.

Tonight we have dinner and a service at church. The next few days will be filled with church activities.

Rebecca
