Is it possible to spend 2-3 hours just napping or hanging by the pool everyday? We are in our twenties and will be on our honeymoon. We were planning on getting up early and staying in the park until 2ish and going back around 5ish. Do you think this will work? We will be there for 5 1/2 days. Will we have time for this downtime?

Depends on your priorities. It's your vacation, so you can do what you like. With 5 1/2 days, you will not be able to see EVERYTHING that the World has to offer. Certainly, if I were there on a honeymoon, I'd take a little downtime. Isn't that what a honeymoon is for? If your honeymoon is the traditional kind - shortly after the wedding - some downtime after all the wedding madness - is very important.

It will help if you are staying on property, and getting around for mid-day breaks might be faster if you have a car (the buses are quite good too though). Remember to allow plenty of time to get back to the park if you have dinner ADR's. Know too, that even at a monoral resort, you'll lose some time going back and forth. You might want to skip it some days....but maybe not. It also depends on when you are going. If it is one of the more crowded times, you'll want to take advantage of late evening hours. If it is one of the less crowded times - when the parks close by 9 pm, taking a break in the day makes less sense.

It depends upon what you really want to do with your time. If you are staying on site you can use the Disney transportation system to get you back to your resort for an afternoon break (or use your auto), but be advised that including walking to the bus or monorail stop (or the parking lot), waiting for the bus (or driving and parking back at the resort), walking back to your room at the resort, and then retracing your path back to the park in the late afternoon, will all take up quite a bit of time. Budget at least an hour (probably take much more), for each such move.

In any case, I would not recommend driving to the Magic Kingdom from a WDW resort, as it takes quite a bit of time each way to travel from the parking lot to the park gate.

Enjoy.

I'd plan at least 3 days with afternoon downtime (or days to leave the parks for good fairly early and get a nice fancy dinner somewhere), and since you are young with no kids, you can probably cover more ground in the parks each day than you would be able to with some rugrats in tow. Do you and your DH to be a favor and do not try to plan too many activities for your honeymoon. I started planning activities every day of ours (in Canada), but the plans unraveled and we ended up spending much more time in the room ;-) or at fancy dinners or leisurely strolls around parks, etc. We both enjoyed that so much more than carefully laid out plans.
