Dailey Maid Service

Hi, Bobump. I happened to have my guidebook handy, so here goes:

Studio / Inn Room - $25 per day
One-bedroom - $30 per day
Two-bedroom - $40 per day
Grand Villa / Beach Cottage - $60 per day
Trash & Towel - $10

It should be noted that if you stay between four and seven nights, a trash & towel service is included. If you stay for eight or more nights, a full cleaning is provided.

At first I thought I would miss housekeeping, but I was wrong. I enjoy lounging in the morning over coffee, then hitting Sturdy Branches and not having my room taken over by housekeeping when I come back.

Good luck...

I would gladly pay to keep housekeeping OUT of the room! I think the Trash and Towel and one full cleaning are just fine. I sometimes have the two switched when we are there for more than 8 nights. I like the idea that I don't have to worry about housekeeping being there if someone is napping or has returned for a shower etc. It is no big deal to make our own beds in the morning. We do that at home. Also, if you don't want to make your bed, that is all right too!

I don't know that I have heard of anyone who had worried about housekeeping, make their DVC purchase, stay and then say they missed housekeeping.

Maybe a poll could be posted. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone does miss housekeeping. I can't say if I will or not, but it was the one thing I have to admit I was concerned about. Part of a vacation to me is having someone else make the bed! I suspect I will be paying housekeeping to come in every few days. I also read on another post about possibly requesting turndown service, for which I would definitely pay a fee for.

In any case, there will be an unmade bed before I make it on vacation!

Guess I'm the Princess here!!! When we go away for 2 weeks in ST. Maarten, I love the daily housekeeping!!! We get fresh sheets every day, talk about spoiled! But it is nice, just getting into that fresh bed every day! It would be nice to have at DVC, and if it was offered for free, I would gladly take it!

The only thing I would miss about the maid service is the fact that they make the beds! Didn't I read somewhere that there might be a $10 per day turn down service that would accomplish this?

We don't miss housekeeping; although they do work hard. The beauty of DVC is if you want the service you can get it, for a fee.

Those of us who don't use the service pay nothing! ( smile)

Enjoy!!

What are you doing to make the beds not fresh??? :p

who doesn't quite understand the fascination with made beds, nor why it's call making the bed since it's pretty much already a bed, so what's there to make? :D

I have to say I missed housekeeping. I enjoy having my bed made, sheets changed, fresh towels, floors vacummed, etc. To me that is all part of being on vaction. Not having to clean-up! Having to do it myself is no fun. We pay for the services now on each trip. It is so nice coming back to a fresh clean room each day.

I would rather have it than not, but I think it is a good idea to let people pay for it rather than it coming out of everyone's dues. When I stay in a hotel if I don't want housekeeping I simply hang a "do not disturb" sign on the door when I leave. Then I will not get housekeeping. But I like coming back to a room and having the beds made, everything tidied, etc. Fresh and clean. Actually I really like coming back to a room and having the bed turned down, a little chocolate there, the lights dimmed, some quiet music on. I would like to know more about the turn down service as well.

But we've never had a problem for the number of towels, or too much garbage, etc., and I would 't complain, but it is nice to come back to a clean and made room.

I never understood why it is called "making" the bed either. We always say "set" the bed, which makes more sense. Other people think "set" sounds silly. Go figure.

is $10/night...so I've heard, and we will sign up for it on day one...
Yep, I'm a princess too!:D

Fix the blankets...straighten the covers...:D

I think I smell a poll comin' on!:D

Exactly. Housekeeping will never be 'free'. If we had daily housekeeping, our dues would go up by the amount listed for a-la-carte service.
The way I think of the current policy is that we have the option to decline housekeeping, then get a price break.

Maybe I'm the crazy one here, but you actually make your bed while you're on vacation? I might straighten up the sheets and blankets a bit before I get back in at night, but making the bed is too much like work.

The only reason I miss mousekeeping is because they leave a fresh set of Mickey soaps every day and I always take them home. We have a Mickey bathroom and I put a fresh one out whenever we have guests, until they run out -- then I know it's time for another Disney trip! But I'm certainly willing to give those up for all the extra trips we can take now that we have DVC!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't care about beds being made or turned down for that matter. Would certainly rather spend my money on other things -maybe a drink at the California Grill or a ride in a water mouse- At one time I thought I was considered crazy because I actually prefer the limited mousekeeping provided and am glad to know I am not alone.
