My DF will be turning 50  on our visit next month. We have all been there so many times that my DM and I think that it will take something really nice to excite him. There are a total of 8 people going to the World and we will be having parties to celebrate 3 other May birthdays before we leave. I know my dad will be looking for something spectacular, especially since we have been giving him such grief over his age.:p

I need ideas about what we can do to make it a very special day for him. He is the best father in the world so we really want to do something fun, but also something that he won't be expecting.
(He can get very nosy when he thinks something is up, and the last time we tried this Disney birthday thing, we were caught!)

Thanks!

First be sure to get him a Birthday Button at what ever park you are at. All the parks have them at Guest Relations. They are free.

CM's will wish him a Happy Birthday, you can get a magical moment on a ride, a birthday call from Goofy. They may sing to you if you are dining in a WDW restaurant.

Other's I am sure will give you great ideas. I had a blast for my 50th birthday at WDW.

An illuminations cruise? A round of golf, a fishing trip, special meals for lunch and dinner, do you know his favorite type of cuisine? How about Cirque du Soliel? The possiblilities are endless. Just open your pocketbook wide and enjoy.

My father (early 60's) was picked for the hoop-dee-doo review last year. He was the angel!!!!! We got the whole thing on video, but could barely keep myself composed to film we were laughing so hard.

Now we didn't plan him getting picked in ait, but I've seen people get picked out for it being their anniversary, etc. Maybe it would be possible to speak to a cm about something like that?

A possible stretch, but an idea never the less.

We went to Disney last year to celebrate my two DD, DH, DF (60th BDay) and my parents' 40th wedding anniversary (all of the birthdays and the anniversary fall in the same week!). Thanks to the DIS Boards I found out about the Illuminations Cruise. I surprised my whole family including my brother's family with the Illuminations Birthday Cruise (12 of us). It was GREAT!! Everyone enjoyed it from the one year old to the sixty year old. For the birthday cruise they have a few decorations, a cake and sodas (or pop-depending what part of the country your from). It might be too late to get a reservation but it is worth a try.

Good luck in planning. Just remember as long as you are all together, anything will be great!!
