We're taking our first family trip to WDW in July/August, and I'm trying to plan something special for my DH and 6-year-old DD to do as a "date" for just the two of them while we're there. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

How sweet! I'd almost suggest the Tea Party at GF, but not sure how dad would like that. How about Pizza and Games at Disney Quest?

We're doing that also! We are staying at the Dolphin, so DH and DD4 are going to Fantasia Mini golf for a round then heading over to Beaches and Creme for some ice cream and some time in the arcade. DD is very excited about her "date with mommy's boyfirend" as she calls him! Meanwhile, I will be getting pampered at the Mandera Spa! :yay:

DH went with us to the tea, but I'm not sure if he would have gone without me.

Last trip DH & DD7 went to Disney Quest & had a great time. (You can get discounted ticket through Mousesavers.)

Would she enjoy getting all dressed up and going somewhere special to dinner. Perhaps somewhere in the WS???

Maybe a nice dress-up dinner or even La Nouba if the ticket price is within budget. I know if it was my DD, she'd choose the Cirque show - she saw it when she was 7 and just loved it. They can dress up a bit and make it a theatre date. Add on either a DTD dinner or just a bucket of popcorn at the show. :)

Thanks, everyone, for your great suggestions!

I really like the tea idea. Our evenings seem to be filling up quickly with family activities, so I'm trying to think of something for them to do in the afternoon. The only trouble is that both DH & DD are VERY hot-natured (the sweat is not a pretty sight), and I was trying to think of something inside.

My DH is an easy-going kind of guy, and is willing to do just about anything. Has anyone been to the tea at the Grand Floridian with a six-year-old? Is it the kind of thing that a child would enjoy? I'm thinking about getting an appointment for her to get her hair and nails done earlier in the day at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, so she would be all primped for the tea. :)

Thanks again for your great ideas!

My DH and DD did the family magic tour together and had a blast. Then they did some rides and lunch. Gillian still talks about to this day.

I took my DD4 to the tea and she loved it. My DH stayed with our DS, but he is the kind of dad that would have loved a tea party with his princess. There were lots of dads there- I think it is the perfect idea! princess:
