Is D23 membership worth it? Do any DLR regulars have this and get any special invites/perks to make it worth while?

It is worth it to me. I am not local but have come for both Expos and Destination D with another in August. I love it. If I was local I would be able to go to many more and would not hesitate to join.

I am a bit confused on the D23 benefits, is it a club that is focused on insider looks at new products or does it come with discounts on things too?

Check out the website - type in D23.com and it will automatically redirect you. Buy one of the "twenty three" magazines at Barnes and Noble, and also check out the upcoming events on the website.

If you like the magazine - you'll likely want the more expensive "gold" membership. It's $75 a year and will get you the chance to go to all events, plus send the magazine to your house. As the magazine is around $16 with tax, it's pretty reasonable to get a gold membership if you like the magazine (there are 4 issues a year).

If the magazine doesn't interest you, but the events on the D23 website do, go for the $35 silver membership. I did this last year so that I could get Expo tickets (although I will be upgrading to gold this year)

And if neither the magazine nor the events interest you? Save your money for your next Disney trip :)

Thank you so much for your advice!

Thanks for the feedback. One more question.... Do you need one membership per household or would my husband and I both need to become members to enjoy the events?

It depends on the event..he would need to come as your guest without his own membership, and I think they yusually allow that, but never know. The discounts haven't been fabulous, but there is one now and then that I can use..there's one running now at Disney Store and Super Shuttle, but most of the time I use discounts from my AP or DVC card.
Some couples have one person get the Gold membership while the other gets the Silver since they only need one magazine. The magazine is really oversized and gorgeous and costs $15.00 each so out of your $75 for the year $60 is going for the magazine. Plus we nearly always get a bonus little gift with the magazine which are always very cool. For this issue, the Avengers focused one, we got a patch..mine is Thor. They also have cool member gifts and renewal gifts. I've gotten two of the best Disney calendars ever, a watch, journal, pins, etc. Honestly, I think it's a bargain.

We did this for the last Expo since only D23 members could buy the Premium tickets. It came in handy for the Fanniversary event because we could take a friend along. We were able to buy one set of Diamond level tickets for Destination-D this Summer with one membership.

Especially if you live in Southern California, it's a great deal, but even if you don't the big events are great!

We have the gold membership, mainly becaue we really like the magazine. We used the membership when we went to WDW a few years ago for events during the Food & Wine Festival.

We just received a gorgeous 23-month D23 calendar with Disney concept art. (can't remember why we got it - maybe e-upping our membership?)
