D23 member discounts question

I havent yet joined D23 I am wondering the discounts and offers they send are they only for DL or WDW as well? How good are their offers?
If I rent DVC points can I use other offers from them like for example if there were a discount on merch or dinning etc

I've been a D23 member since the year it began and do not find the discounts to be very good. In WDW, I've used it once at Ghiradelli's and once at the Mandarin Spa. Certainly not worth joining if you are only looking for discounts. We get better discounts with my Disney Visa and AP's.

How you book your room has no impact on any dining/merchandise discounts you may be eligible for.

Those are pretty sad, I was thinking about joining for both the box and discounts but im not sure what else there is to it?

They hold events throughout the year mostly in WDW and CA but occasionally throughout the country. I've been to two events which were amazing - one at WDW and one in NYC. It's really a fan club not a way to access great discounts
