Am I just missing something, or is there VERY little D23 official info out?

This is my first time going. I've been to Star Wars Celebration, so I've done a mega Con, but I'm amazed at the lack of a schedule. I'd like to do at least one major presentation, the movie one, but I assume that one is insane. How early would I have to get in line for that one? Are we talking 3 or 4 hours? When is that one normally held?

I was hoping to be able to at least do some planning by now, but I've seen very little.

Jason

I've been to both Expo's and will be attending this one as well. When it comes to schedule and information, most presentations aren't finalized until the final two weeks before the expo. It is very common not to see any information come out until the week before. We're nearing two weeks out, so we should be getting more and more info soon.

As far as lining up for presentations go. They will start letting people in at 8:00am for the arena presentations. However, expect people to start lining up for those at least 3 hours beforehand. So you'll definitely want to get an early start to guarantee seats.

If you don't already have one, I'd suggest a D23 membership. They are free now, and will get you into the expo floor an hour earlier then non-members. Head over to www.d23.com and sign up. Also check out the expo information there. Lots to read about to help with planning. Things like the stage pass may also help with getting into presentations.

Remember, arrive early, and expect that you won't get to see everything you want to. So you'll have to be very selective with what you choose to do. Be sure to allow yourself time to explore the show floor as there's always lots of cool things to see. And in the end, if things don't work exactly as planned, just try to make the best of it and have a good time. :)

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I have a D23 membership. I have a 3 day pass, and my family has Saturday ones.

Just wish they'd throw a few more bones than the kid stuff, and saying what they AREN'T doing, which still really upsets me. Hey, we're holding a world wide Disney convention, AT a theme park, but will be saying nothing about new theme park rides. Still hoping that's just a ruse.

We're staying at the DLH, so I assume walking will be our best bet?

Jason

They haven't announced everything yet. There will be lots more and they will cater to an older audience as well.

As for the rumor of no park announcements. It's only a rumor, and should be treated as such for now. If they don't announce anything, it'll be disappointing. But there will be a lot of other things going on to make up for it.

Which hotel? Paradise pier hotel is the closest to the convention centre. Maybe 10-15 minute walk, Disneyland hotel and grand Californian are both further, probably closer to a 20 minute ish walk.

The schedule is getting pretty full. I'm going to wait until the 1st of the month before I make my must see list.
Jason/rastuso I think you will get what you want to see in the Walt Disney Park & Resort Pavilion. With a whole pavilion dedicated to the parks I'm sure you'll get the new ride information you're looking for. You'll be on sensory over load. :thumbsup2 :tink:

Yep..there is so much more to see than just the presentations. The pavillions are great as well.

If you don't know, they released the D23 Expo app for iphone and Android yesterday.

It adds some to the schedule. One big add is the Disney live action movie presentation at 10:30 on Saturday. This is one of the biggies we were wanting to go to. And it essentially overlaps with the Disney Legends presentation, since if you are at the Movie pres, you'll never get into the Legends that follows. Is that the way it's always been? I'm hoping since this makes folks choose, it will lower the line a bit for teh movie presentation.

Will there be tons of folks lining up for the 10:30 presentation at 6 am? I'm thinking maybe showing up at 7 or so. Also, can members of your group (we'll be 3) take turns leaving and looking at other stuff, and return to the line? Surely you can leave for bathroom breaks. I hate it when one person shows up, then 20 more show up 15 minutes before the line goes in, and don't think that should be allowed, but if everyone shows up to begin with, and do some coming and going, that should hopefully be fine.

Of course, if Johnny Depp shows up, the paramedics will have to revive my wife. :rotfl:

I'm hoping for Thor since his movie is up next. We all need a dream! :) :lovestruc

Did they add a lot today?

There sure didn't seem like much going on in the D23 arena.

Jason

The newest items I saw today were scheduled for the Center Stage on the show floor.

There are only 6 events currently in the Arena: morning and afternoon on Friday, morning, afternoon and evening on Saturday and noon on Sunday. While there is certainly an obvious opening in the schedule for Friday evening, I cant see them scheduling anything opposite the Broadway presentation. I personally hope they end up moving that presentation TO the Arena. -- Suzanne

I wondered why they didn't put that in the Arena also...I wonder if there is some rule about performances not being to audiences of a certain number with the broadway stuff..with copyright or royalty rules or something. Seems the Arena would be a no brainer for that show if possible.
The Arena takes so long to load and unload, I'm not surprised they don't have all that many events there.
I am surprised at the lack of Pixar panels..I think the only one is on the floor in a pavillion..don't know how that works as having those kinds of things on the floor is new. Also, no panels with the cruise line:confused3

It looks like the schedule is pretty close to complete, although the app says to keep checking back.

Replying to my own comment, after looking at the schedule in more detail, it does look like there is room for a couple more presentations on Saturday in Stage 23 and Stage 28. The first presentation that day in Stage 23 is at 1 pm. The last presentation in Stage 28 ends at 3 pm. Based on this, I would expect we might see 2 more "major" presentations. -- Suzanne

Replying to my own comment again! 3 new presentations have been announced for Saturday:

Inside the Ice: The Art of Disneys Frozen
Saturday, August 10 at 10:30 a.m.

The Art of The Good Dinosaur
Saturday, August 10, 3 p.m.

Toy Story OF TERROR! and the Motivation Behind Pixars Short Form Content
Saturday, August 10 at 5 p.m.

These have been announced on the website, but are not yet in the schedule on the app. The first 2 will likely be in Stage 23 and the last will be in Stage 28.
