I bought in because I can waste 75 bucks and it not affect me that much. But let me go through your comments. The magazine is beautiful yet overpriced. No magazine normally costs 15 bucks each. The expo only gives a $7 savings. I have heard straight from the Disney geeks running D23 that the main point is the CONTENT on the website. So I ask again, what's the freakin' point about it being exclusive when it isn't? So I'm paying 75 up front for an overpriced magazine and the privilege of saving 7 dollars off an Expo that takes place in Anaheim? Woo hoo sign me up. haha
And your quote that I have put in bold is just hilarious. How can you honestly say that with a straight face? That's about as obvious a contradiction that I have seen written about D23.
Because you don't have to join to "be 23". You can simply enjoy the online content and/or go to the Expo and/or buy the magazine off the shelf and/or participate in things like the artist meet they just held at DL. D23 is what you make it. Where is the same outrage over the WDCC? You have to pay $60 to join and you get a 4-5" figurine, a pin and the right to buy other (more expensive) WDCC pieces.
And the Expo gives a $7 savings on up to 4 people, so if you are brining the family the savings adds up.
And I disagree that the magazine is overpriced. Check out the cost of some monthly magazine out there. It is eeasy to find them for $8-10 an issue, and those include ads. Disney twenty-three is ad free, has content you cannot find anywhere else (unless you work in the Disney Archives) and has wonderfully photography.
