hmmm I think I am saving my $195 and hanging with my Dis friends, of course that is $195 after I buy 2 park tickets and I pay $75 to join D23... ;). The events do sound kinda cool and in a better economy with free cash I could be convinved but this caught my eye as it is Saturday Night the same night as TSM

"After the park closes, enjoy "the last ride of the night" on one of the park's signature attractions, and then head over to New York Street for a private viewing of The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights during a special presentation hosted by two of Walt Disney World's top creative minds. "

Two major events at DHS on the same night, after closing should be interesting

If you already belong to D23 I think this is a great deal. It sounds like a lot of fun. I already have a bunch of stuff planned and paid for. TSM will be better than dinner and the Osborne lights.
The two day park ticket is INCLUDED. Just MVMCP and the two day park ticket cost $205.00.

NOTE: Available only to D23 Members in good standing. Park entrance is included; TWO one-day, one-park ticket for EACH GUEST will be available at the Guest Relations window at the Main Entrance to Epcot® on the day of the event.

Just curious- what is DAP?

Here you go.

DIS/DISUnplugged/Dreams December Event Info – DISapalooza (continued)
Updates are in red.

(Link to original thread that is now locked - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2201826)

As many of you know, last year was the first time the DIS/DISUnplugged/Dreams Unlimited Travel participated in Mousefest. We had such a great time that we immediately committed to participating in future Mousefest events.

Sadly the organizers of Mousefest have decided not to host their annual event this year.

Since the DIS/DISUnplugged/Dreams already committed to participating and holding a party/event this year we are going forward with those plans for December 2009.

I know many of you have been waiting for details on our event/party in December. We still have many of the details to work out but we have identified the dates of 12/11, 12/12 and 12/13 for DIS related events.

Please understand that this is not a replacement for Mousefest. We look forward to the return of Mousefest in the future and working with the organizers when they decide to have it again.

I understand many of you are already planning meets and events on your own for that weekend. I think that is awesome. Please know that we have no interest in organizing any of these individual events. I am really pleased to see these have taken on a ‘grass roots’ feel and that individuals have taken it upon themselves to organize these and work out the details.

We do plan on having a couple of DIS/DISUnplugged/Dreams sponsored/organized events. Again, specifics are in the works but here is what we know so far:

Main Party/Event – the evening of Saturday 12/12/2009
Toy Story Mania Party - Disney Hollywood Studios - 9PM - Midnight

- We are not ready to take waitlist/sign-ups for our main event/party – so please don’t ask. Once we have some specifics worked out we will put up a sign-up form. Until then please be patient.
- We understand that many people will want to attend this year’s party so we are working to ensure we can accommodate as many people as possible so no one is left out.
- We will be charging a small fee to attend this event ($25 per person). This fee is to offset administrative costs and to help ensure everyone who signed up for the party attends. Last year we had some people sign-up who didn’t attend – and since Disney charges us ‘per head’ for these events we wound up wasting money and, worst yet, those were spaces others could have taken.
- We have not worked out the exact fee yet, but plan on keeping it as reasonable as possible so that as many folks who want to attend are able – more details to come.
- Folks who book 2 or more nights with Dreams Unlimited Travel for that weekend will get a priority space on the list for the party as well as have the fee waived.

Friday 12/11/2009 – Tentative
Original ideas with Disney Institute Fell Through - We are working on alternate plans

- We are in talks with the Disney Institute folks to put together some kind of event this day. Most likely this will be some kind of lecture series with multiple speakers. This is all very preliminary but we have thrown out our ‘pie in the sky’ ideas to see what they come back with. I believe I actually heard their heads explode during the conference call when I told them what I wanted to do.
- There will be a charge for this event, however attendees of this event will get priority space on the list for 12/12 party as well as have the fee waived.
- Depending on what we do and the interest from you all this could be a half or full day event and could include meals.
- I am sorry to be so cryptic, but none of the details have been worked out yet.

Sunday 12/13/2009 – Live Podcast Recording
Still working out details for venue

- Again, no details have been worked out but we are hoping to secure a venue large enough to have a live show this day. This would be a free event.
- More details to come as the time gets closer.

Again, I am sorry that I don’t have any details for you. I do know that many of you were looking to make your travel plans for this so I wanted to at least get the dates out there.

As I said, once we have more details I will be releasing them to everyone. Also, once we have some specifics worked out we will be putting up a sign-up form for all events.

My goal this year is to make sure everyone who wants to attend the party has the opportunity. I know some were disappointed last year because we had to cut-off the number of attendees to the party. Hopefully this year we will be able to host everyone who wants to attend.

Thanks
John

PS Anyone who writes, emails, PMs or calls about being put on the waitlist will be subject to public humiliation

Sounded okay to me as well if your a D23 member. Add the CP and the other activities/food would probably make it well worth the price.

Sounds like a fantastic package. Wish I could do it. Wish I could be there for DAP, too.

"the last ride of the night" can't be Toy Story Mainia if they are setting up for the DIS DAP party, right/

Sounds very tempting. Anyone else think it's an amazing coincidence that they chose the traditional dates for Mousefest?

I misread earlier and didnt realize that the park tickets were included.

Two park one day tickets and MVMCP equals just about $199 so this is a fabulous deal.

I thought about the Mousefest coincidence as well. This weekend in the parks use to be slow, I am afraid that with this, the WDW Today Reunion, DAP and you know Lou will come up with something that its gonna be busy.

I am ok with that though, as many of the non-official DAP events while in parks actually lend themselves to us not dealing with the crowds so much..

It's gonna be a fun weekend that's all I know :cool1: :cool1:

Here is the info about all of the D23 Holiday Events.

HOLIDAY 2009 D23 CHARTER MEMBER-ONLY SPECIAL EVENTS:

December 6, 2009 D23’s Candlelight Spectacular at Disneyland
For more than 50 years, Disneyland’s Candlelight Processional and Ceremony has heralded in the Christmas season at “The Merriest Place on Earth.” This year’s Candlelight Processional and Ceremony serves as the centerpiece of D23’s first holiday season celebration during a magical day of festivities created exclusively for D23 Members and their guests. This can’t-miss event begins with a day enjoying the holiday splendor of Disneyland including reserved seating at Disneyland’s A Christmas Fantasy Parade. When night falls, D23 Members and their guests will gather inside Stage 17 at Disney’s California Adventure where a winter wonderland awaits with a sumptuous private dinner prepared by Disneyland’s Executive Chef—with a special show starring some of Disney’s most beloved characters donning their holiday best. Later that evening, D23 Members and their guests will be escorted to reserved seating for this year’s Candlelight Processional and Ceremony, a breathtaking retelling of the Christmas story with a celebrity narrator, the Disneyland Orchestra and the Disney Employee Choir. Following the Candlelight Processional and Ceremony, the party returns to Stage 17 where everyone will enjoy a sweet treat and a special “behind-the-candles” look at the history of holiday traditions at Disneyland, as well as the special care and work that goes into making the parks look their best for the season. Add in some D23 magic, and this is sure to be an once-in-a-lifetime experience!

December 10, 2009 D23’s Disney and Dickens
Join Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim and fellow D23 Members for an evening of Dickensian delights at the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood to experience the new Robert Zemeckis film Disney’s A Christmas Carol, starring Jim Carey, Bob Hoskins and an all-star cast in this new retelling of Charles Dickens’ timeless holiday favorite. After the movie, guests will head to a holiday feast at the legendary Tam O’Shanter restaurant in Los Angeles—a frequent hang out of Walt Disney and his animators. D23 Members will have the opportunity to see Walt’s table, take a look at the wonderful artwork created by Disney animators for the Tam, and be entertained by Dickens Carolers, as well as an ensemble from the Disney Employee Choir, who will sing their favorite Disney Christmas songs.

December 12 & 13, 2009 D23’s Magic & Merriment
For two days at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, D23 Members will have the opportunity to experience the holiday season as never before. The jolly happenings begin Saturday morning, December 12 inside the D23 Member Lounge in Epcot. D23 Members will get their first behind-the-scenes look at the holiday magic Disney creates including a glimpse at how the Resort transforms seemingly overnight from Florida paradise to winter wonderland. After a day enjoying the park, D23 Members will reconvene at the America Gardens Theatre to enjoy the perennial Christmas favorite, Candlelight Processional, narrated by the incomparable Vanessa Williams. Following the show, D23 Members will head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a holiday feast on the set of Lights! Motors! Action! And after the park closes, D23 Members will enjoy one more signature ride before heading to the Streets of America for a private viewing of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights hosted by two of Walt Disney World’s top creative minds. Sunday takes D23 Members to the Magic Kingdom for a full day of holiday delights. The fun includes a private luncheon inside the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon, and a once-in-a-lifetime private tour of the Cinderella Dream Suite inside Cinderella Castle. That night, the festivities continue with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which includes a private hospitality area with holiday treats. Add in reserved seating for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade and a good helping of pixie dust and D23 Members will have a winter wonderland weekend to remember.

It's going to be a difficult decision to make... DAP or Magic & Merriment.

I'm thinking, why not both?

The times for the M&M weekend is a little sketchy but I'm wondering if it will be possible to do both. Most likely you won't be able to do everything but I'm wondering if you can pick and choose the best of both events.

i just got the email as well. (yeah i caved and joined D23, lol)

it does sound very tempting- vip/special viewing for CP with Vanessa Williams, VIP areas at Epcot and MK......all sounds pretty nice. With our large group and the kiddos, don't think it is a good option- if i was going solo, i would definitely sign up. not a bad deal too considering it includes the tickets.

so i guess they will be at HS that night after hours with us too? so sounds like Osborne lights will be open late for them. I wonder how many folks will end up at their event- do they limit it?

The All About the Mouse podcast has at least two meets the same weekend.

Interesting - the Mousefest organizers let it drop for all their good reasons.
Yet Disney people meets refuse to die!

I am surprised that they choose that weekend, there are already no rooms available value or moderate that weekend. The cheapest room my Dreams agent could find me was at SSR, and it was a one bedroom, not even a studio!

This is what I'm desperate to know - is it possible to attend the dinner at DHS/Osbourne Lights portion of this event and still make it to DAP? Can they escort us from one to another? Or will we have to leave early, exit the park and meet the DIS group there?

I am hoping the DAP organizers notice this D23 thing and weigh in...

Yeah, me too. I would go if I could get a value room. Oh well, I don't need to spend the money anyway!

If I hadn't already planned for DAP, this could make me join D23. It is a fabulous deal.

Kim

It really is a pretty good deal money wise. Of course I will be to busy playing with all my DAP friends.

We had a conference call with the event services team helping us with the TSM party this past week and I am really surprised they didn't mention this to us.

If you want to attend TSM you will need to be at the entrance to MGM prior to the party (9PM) and escorted back to the party. No one will be permitted into the TSM party from other areas of the park - only those escorted from the front of the park will be allowed in the party.

We will have some more details soon but you should know you won't have to have park admission for our party as it is after the park closes. We will be sending out credentials to the party. Please don't ask for details as I don't have them yet.
