So what snacks is everyone bringing?

I have a bag of Japanese rice cracker-type chips that are my go to snack for conventions and a thermos of ice that I refill with water throughout the day. I'll probably bring peanut butter and apple slices.

When my cousin joined me for last year's Expo, she wanted to checkout the food trucks. We tried the Peruvian one and the food was yummy.

So, I was fully tracking on the Live Action info and arrival times, but now that I see the new Avengers panel may be changing my tune. What I now am confused by is how I change my plan to get the wristband--same arrival times? Different line? If so, where do we go?

Regarding Marvel signings: "Guests will lineup in the general show floor queue in the morning and when doors open at 9am, they can head to the Marvel Studios booth to retrieve their wristband." [source]

For anyone planning on camping out in the overnight queue, I saw this on the Funko board's D23 thread:
I asked specifically about inflatable that isn't bigger than a sleeping bag/pad and wouldn't take up more room than one person. So this pretty much answers anything bigger.

Dear Kimberly,

Thank you for your recent message. At this time, the information that we have is that inflatables will not be permitted in the overnight queues.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Thanks,
Tim

Does anyone know how the queues will work and/or worked in the past in regards to overnight vs. outside. Do the overnight queue get let in first before they start letting in the outside queue OR do they start letting both in simultaneously at 9 am?

Overnight queue gets let in first. Previously, the overnight queue was cut-off around 6am with those arriving after 6am making a separate line outside the convention center and would be let in after the overnighters.

That is really discouraging. They haven't posted that anywhere official from what I've read on the D23 website. All they have said is that whatever you bring has to fit in a backpack. So I think they're going to have a lot of pushback if they try to enforce the no inflatable rule.

@ashley0139 Re: Snacks
Like you, allergies are prompting us to pack our own. We have some protein bars (several kinds, some for breakfast and some for afternoon snacks), safe trail mix from TJs, some fruit bars, some safe cookies and crackers, a few chocolates...I have some sandwich boxes from the last Expo, they are compact and prevent the contents from getting smooshed in our bags.

The inflatable thing probably came directly from the inflatable mattress last time.

The lunchables comment reminded me of the Gopicnic meals that are out there as well. Not sure of your allergies, but there are several different kinds that cater to different allergies (mine is gluten and there are at least 4 gf options). They're not my favorite things ever but I'll grab a couple because they are handy. I get them at target.

That's what the official thing says this time as well.

I'm packing today and realized that my poster tube sticks out of the top of my backpack. Will that be a problem at the expo? I won't bring it if it will be.

I'm almost packed up except for little things and electronics.
Then I'll be on to figuring out what I want to do since the full schedule is out. I'm sure it will be different than my original thoughts.

Hi, everyone!

I'm totally excited for my first ever D23 Expo!! :yay: I just finished going through and picking out my 'must-see' panels.. the only big concern I have is about the Alan Menken on Sunday... is it usually one continuous que for the main stage panels (as in, don't show up at 6am and get in line, don't get in), or at 1:30 once the first show goes in do they start a whole new que? If anyone's been to Star Wars Celebration, is the process sort of similar to what they do there?

I'd much rather go to the evening show so I can enjoy some of the morning offerings, but I'm worried if I don't show up at 6 am, I might not get in. :worried:

I don't currently have a Gold Membership, but would that make any significant difference?

Thank you, guys!

I know that Star Wars Celebrations in Anaheim and Orlando said no inflatables, has to fit in backpack, etc., but there were people leaving behind armchairs/inflatable pool rafts/beds in the que in the morning... I don't know if the organizers of D23 expo are more organized or willing to call people on it.

FWIW I want to see the first Alan Mencken. I suspect and am hoping that since there are 2 concerts and it is Sunday which tends to be the slowest day that I can get in line by 11AM after Lion King. IMO no need for 6AM for that but you never know. My two cents.

No idea if Gold will make a difference. It never has in the past but it sounds like it might this year.

:wizard:

@GaSleepingBeautyFan I can't see why the tube sticking out of your bag would be an issue, it wouldn't be any worse than carrying it loose...you know?

Plus, I'm sure there will be cosplayers with various props that would be similarly long and not weapon-like (umbrella, etc.).

But I'm no expert! :rotfl:

It is super hard to tell but the "official" line for the 2nd one will not start until the 1:30 show has loaded. Now if there is an unofficial line who knows if Disney will honor it or not. Sunday is not sold out and that hall is big so it is very possible there will be no need to queue for it.

Has a DIS meet up been scheduled yet? I remember the DL podcast team mentioned one a few weeks back.
