I keep hearing BLT will sell out and wont be able to join DVC

I dont get it ... not EVERY person that owns at BLT is there at the same time
So there isnt room availabe??:confused3

Well say Bay Lake Tower sells out what happens?? i have to wait till a new resort to be made

if BLT "sells out", it just means that DVC has sold all (well 95% or so) of the BLT points that there are to sell for the first time. you can still buy into other DVC resorts and stay at BLT if there is availability and realistically, you can still buy into BLT if you want the 11 month window as an owner.

if you look, there is a link above for "DVC resale listings" which means that people who buy DVC contracts sometimes decide to sell those DVC contracts. in a few years, there will be more BLT contracts available as people's needs and situations change.

if you go to dvcnews, you will see that DVC offers to sell contracts at "sold out" resorts because they continue to pick up old contracts when they have to foreclose on delinquent owners or they buy contracts which the owners try to sell too cheaply (it's called "ROFR"). DVC will still be selling BLT contracts long after it has "sold out."

also, when BLT owners choose not to stay at BLT, and instead use their pts for cruises or stays at disneyland resorts or adventures by disney or for other timeshares, then that means that rooms open up at BLT for anyone to book for cash.

Any idea when BLT will sell out?? i mean were thinking of getting in by December/January

I have been tracking the total points sold at BLT by watching the Orange County Comptroller web site. They have sold approx 2.2 million points out of something like 5.8 million total points (not sure what 95% of 5.8 million is).

With a BLT price increase taking effect 10/4, sales are likely to slow down there.

Too many factors to guess when it will sell out, but it would take a huge surprise for it to be sold out before your December/January timeframe.

See this thread for BLT declaration and sales info. TSMIII, wdrl, and I have been putting various information on the thread. Post 1 has the declaration, post 121 has sales based on OCC web site contracts, and post 126 shows # Unit, Unit UY assignments, points distribution based on UY.

I expect that it will be a year or more before it sells out. :goodvibes

No, you can definitely become a DVC member at any of the resorts via the resale market. All you have to do is purchase an existing DVC member's contract, and you will be a DVC member - it's as easy as that (more difficult, probably, will be the logistics of finding a contract with the number of points you want, the use year you want, and trying to pick which one of the resorts to buy at). :thumbsup2 You can also purchase points from the sold-out resorts through DVC directly but that process can be more expensive and time consuming than going the resale route. Either way, good luck! :goodvibes

We were informed during the tour last week that BLT will be increasing to $120 a point. That will likely slow sales down.

But, you also have Kidani Village, Grand Californian, and Hawaii (when it goes on sale) to buy into the new market.

If I am not mistaken SSR is still for sale new because of the Treehouse Villas.

Yes, Disney is still actively selling SSR. In January 2009, Disney declared 30 of the 60 Treehouse Villas for the DVC. To date, Disney has sold almost 26% of the 452,625 points it declared for the THV units. Sales have been fairly steady but very slow.

Do not get too worried about a resort selling out. You will not be missing a "once in a lifetime" opportunity. There has already been a few BLT resales on the market, there will be BLT resales (through Disney or others) whenever you decide to buy.

I'm guessing BLT sells out mid 2011, unless they offer some killer incentives... Interestingly enough, I think we will only see a little overlap with Hawaii, unless Hawaii goes on sale, so I'm guessing they divert some resources. If BLT does last until mid 2011, I'm guessing SSR will be sold out at that point and AKL will be out or close as well... My hope is we will have heard the next DVC by that point... Anyone have any guesses? I'm betting Grand Floridian or if they are really ambitious, shoring up the land where there was a proposed Asian themed hotel on the monorail track YEARS ago and building a DVC only resort there.... I think they see just how much they can make off the monorail resorts and will act accordingly... it wouldn't suprise me if in the next 15-20 years there is a new Monorail DVC resort (least likely to happen of course) and DVC at Poly, GF as well as BLT.

Makes sense... I own at SSR and like SSR and love the THVs, but based on current promotions there is only a $5 per point difference (unless you sell back your first years points which at $5 a point is a terrible deal) between the two.

160 at BLT is 17120. For that you can get 167 at SSR or 176 with the buy back promotion. Honestly I'd sacrifice even the 16 or 7 extra points for BLT over SSR if buying new, plus you get all your first year points as well.

I can definately see why the THVs are selling slow. I'm suprised AKV isn't doing worse... I love the animals but the location is not my favorite.

If for some reason BLT sells out before you buy, there's always SSR, GCV, AKL, and ,I would imagine, Hawaii will going up for sale sometime next year

October 3 is the increase date. On the 7-day Disney Magic cruise and they are offering a (cruise-online) discount of $13-$25 per point depending on package level. But they did say they'll sell up to 98% of available points and expect to reach that level by Nov/Dec.

One thing to remember is that the only points available to be sold are the ones that have been declared so saying 98% of “available points” will be sold by Nov/Dec while obviously “sales talk overly optimistic” it not so far out of line to be an obvious “falsehood”.

Looking at the 65+% left to sell and the initial bump if you calculate an average rate from 10/30/2008 to now and extrapolate it to the future it would put the sell out date well in 2011 and as likely well into 2012.
