D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Isn't it against your law for people to homeschool there?

The law does not say that homeschooling isn't allowed. It is just that all children are obliged to attend school until a certain age. Which admittedly has the same result and that's why I said that homeschooling isn't an option. This obligation to attend a school was introduced as early as in the 16th century and during industrialization in the 19th century it was an important factor to reduce child labor. So it has a very long tradition and is considered to have many positive aspects. And it does not have to be a state school, but private schools (often church schools, but also others) can be visited as well.

1) This is being typed with one hand.

2) 7 puppies, we think, have arrived.

3) Getting the tet. shot at the clinic was nearly as traumatic as getting bitten.

4) Yes, that was wine. Seriously, that was the first time ever I've had wine for pain relief; ibuprofen was a joke.

5) iam thankful I don't have to have rabies series! They almost insisted. More on that when i can type better....

Love you ALL!!! Life sucks right now. that is all.

Oh.my.goodness!! I am so late in catching up...Liesa, this does not sound good...off to ctach up...gentle .

Oh, Liesa this really did not get any better. :scared1: I am so sorry. I guess sitting in a civilized country one cannot really imagine that getting something simple like a tetanus shot can be really nasty in a developing country!

I had been thinking about the rabies thing yesterday and I guess you are really lucky that you know the dog which bit you and know that this is nothing you need to worry about. Rabies is such a dreadful illness! :scared1:

It really seems like all these small (and larger) catastrophies really need to end one day for you! Being in pain is such a useless thing. :headache: I hope the knowledge about your WDW trip not being in the distant future anymore will help you to get through this and is at least a small comfort!

I will pray for a speedy recovery!

:hug::hug::hug:

I think, as we talked about on the phone today, the Soviet regime instilled a very dogmatic approach to the practive of medicine. They really take the "art" out of it, but using a very inflexible "system" that is NEVER wavered from. Sad. So instead of really looking at the circumstances of each case, they simply say, "do it this way" and don't really THINK about things. Clearly, my dog was not (is not) rabid, but was POd at me for reaching into her doggie domain. Lesson learned. :rolleyes1

Last I heard there has not EVER been 1 survivor of rabies, so I do understand that to err on the side of caution can be a good thing. Especially if the animal- dog, racoon, bat or otherwise is unknown.

Now, if I'm foaming at the mouth during our German dinner, you can know it's ONLY from the delicious food I'm absolutely certain to consume. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Magdelene- at this point, it's turning into funny... seriously, I won't tempt fate by saying, "how can things get worse"... but really... :sad2:

Hi Christine!! Glad you are back! It's been quite a ride here.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks, Sophia!! Hey, I was wondering if you could PM me your phone number?? We need to look together at our itineraries to come up with a Meet time!!! Time is getting closer!!

I'm sorry to read that you're still hurting and that the shot was traumatic.

Bug on the bright side, you've got puppies. (that was sarcastic)

I could smell the sarcasm from a mile away...

Guess what? We just had a friendly investigative visit from the police. I had to sign a statement that I was not holding anyone else responsible, that things were ok, etc...

:sad2::sad2::sad2:

They were very friendly, and gave us their phone number for any future problems. Other than his cigarette, it was a breath of fresh air.

Oh Liesa - I'm so sorry you had a horrible experience at the clinic! Thank goodness you got out of the Rabies shots!

I can't believe the police showed up!! :scared1:

I hope you start feeling better. I wish you could click your red shoes and be at Disney right now!

Hi Liesa, I don't have the time to do the whole how to take a train in Germany update now, but I think before you are off to bed, I should at least post a teaser. The type of train you will be on does not have an engine in the front, only a cabin for the engineer. You can walk all the way to the front (or the back) and enjoy the view along the tracks:

And this is where you can get your coffee (3.20 Euros, about 4 $ at the moment). They even sell latte and cappucino. :goodvibes

And this is what you can look forward to after your train ride:

What beautiful scenery!!

I just want to let you know how much I'm enjoying your and your sister's trip report - I stayed up late last night trying to get caught up - I'm on page 20. I didn't want to comment on there until I get to the end.

Flossbolna, thank you for those pictures! I've always wondered what the trains look like. Is that considered a high speed train? Oh I would love to come to Germany. Maybe I'll try to make it happen next year for my Europe trip. I know I want to go to Europe but still deciding where I wanna go.

TELL ME ABOUT IT!! Between reading about Andrew's graduation, just coming off of my son's and seeing ToyStory3 again with my son next to me holding my hand (to comfort me) I'm a total flippin mess right now!!! <--- This sums it up nicely.

:rotfl2: er.... I mean, there there  Seriously though, that movie is such a tear jerker!

Oh, Liesa... you poor thing. I hate needles enough but to think of getting one in the rump?! I hope you heal soon  Thank goodness you didn't need rabies vaccines. Wouldn't it be fine as long as your dog's rabies vaccines are up to date? Here's so more hugs for ya :hug::hug:

When you have time... or need something to get your mind off things, come on over to my new PTR For Every To, There Is a Fro Things are a bit quiet over there. I need someone like yourself to liven up the place a bit.
