D-Day for MK, FP+ only

They are going to have to tier MK once the new ride comes on. The good news is, there is enough at MK that the tiers might not be so severe, maybe just enough to encourage some people to skip a day on the new ride.

I hear this mentioned frequently in the FP+ threads, and I'm not 100% sure it's going to happen. Initially 7DMC will be popular attraction with long wait times, but once the newness wears off will it's popularity outstrip it's FP potential. TSMM is 5 years old and still rapidly distributes all of it's FP+. The same thing with Soarin'. In 6 months to a year, will 7DMC still be the must do attraction on every ones FP+ list or will current attractions reclaim their spots on enough peoples lists.

Instead of tiering FP+, Disney could initially run the coaster without tiering, or without FP at all. Then after the initial frenzy dies down, see if tiering is warranted.

A Tuesday in mid-January is reducing Standby lines.
But only in 2 of the 4 parks.

Although it looks like some of the times at DHS may have been because of breakdowns. The app currently showing

RnR 10min. FP 3:20-4:20
ToT 40min FP gone
TSMM 65min. FPgone

A short while ago ToT was showing an 80min return time on the app.

Aren't these similar to what was distributed at AK when they went FP+ only?

And thanks for sharing!

Probably! I have yet to see a photo of those though.

I would think they'd have more than 4 kiosks for all the offsite guests in MK. That seems SO low!

I think RUDE sarcasm directed at someone isn't allowed.

4. NO FIGHTING/SARCASM
While we'd like to think that a Disney fan site is always lighthearted, there are times when there are disagreements. Let's face it, there are certain topics that can transform any of us into a raging "Donald Duck." When you sense this is happening, we ask that you step away from the discussion before it escalates into a fight. Just like Mom always said about fighting, we don't care who started the argument and we don't want it on the DIS. (Okay, she didn't say the part about the DIS, but you know what we mean.) No attacking others and no sarcasm please. Either will result in an infraction

I dont see a mention of RUDE sarcasm. I just see that according to the rules as stated that NO sarcasm is allowed on the DIS. Of course, it depends who is posting on who can get away with sarcasm. Rude or otherwise.

But back on topic. Like during the AK FP+ testing, The FP+ detractors will claim victory either way. If it rolls out to today with no issues, it is because it is just a slow time. But if there were problems today, they would be jumping all over it. Win Win situation for them.

Interesting note:

A poster on that FB page said they went to AK in the a.m., picked FP+, then hopped to MK and picked 3 more. I thought the MK test started today, and the person said they were an AP holder who went yesterday, but don't you think that being able to use FP+ at all parks in one day might be a game-changer? (If it happens.)

I think this is too simple in terms of reactions, at least for me. I would call myself a "FP+ detractor". However, I know it's not going away. That discussion is over for me. At this point, I just want it to work well so I can have an enjoyable trip at Disney World (and Disneyland in the future) with my family.

I want the system to work, and I think many of us feel the same way. However, we don't take the stance that because it's Disney, it will work. There are examples in every park of projects that failed. I'm REALLY hoping that at a minimum the new system isn't worse to the guest experience. If that happens or if it's even a succces, it will be a relief, not a disappointment.

A game changer that onsite guests better have access to also. Otherwise that's a huge incentive for people to move offsite, seeing as onsite guests are 3 and done no matter what.

I don't think so. They can pre-book 3 FP+, but I doubt they're "done" at that point once the system rolls out. I'm sure they will be able to book additional FP+ on the day-of at other parks if off-site guests can do it, also.

Of all the parks, MK could actually support tiering with the best benefit for guests. There are so many attractions with FastPass+ available now, they could tier MK and let you pick more than 3 total attractions. I would love to see 3 from Tier 1 (maybe Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, various character greetings, and Be Our Guest lunch) and 3 from Tier 2 (all the rest). They charge more for single day tickets to MK now, so why not allow MK specific FP+ rules?
i don't see them giving more tho

Checked FP+ reservations now, it says "Back Soon" for Space Mountain. Is it closed? Or do you think they're gone for the day? It says Splash Mountain is closed, along with carpets of Aladdin, and MSEP.
I saw on Twitter the carpets were closed don't know and MSEP is in refurbishment

All that matters to me is the right now, as my trip is in about 3 weeks. If offsite guests can park hop but onsite guests cannot that is a huge deal to us. That is a game changer indeed.

Agree, interesting.

For any MK/AK hoppers today (or next several days) on this thread, please let us know if this works for you also.

I would like to know if he pre-reserved his 3 on-line (from home...or somewhere other than in the park) in AK, used them...hopped to MK then picked 3 more???

I will be there in 7 days, it could make for an interesting trip!

Amen!

I'm so sick and tired of the "war" here. I have never understood why it's so difficult to understand that a person can have concerns about the FP+ system, and yet still hope that it works out in a way that doesn't detract from guest experiences. It's like all those being labeled "FP+ detractors" are somehow required to hate Disney and just want it to fail, which couldn't be further from the truth.

I agree that this 'half-way' mode is to the detriment of on-site guests who are generally spending more. I feel Disney should have offered something to these early beta testers - like a golden fp for a day for a set number of rides.

Since FP is not even needed on slow days, today is just a test for off-site guests being able to use the FP+ kiosks. The real test will come on a busy day. Hoping the playing field and some of the kinks are evened out by the time we visit in late March.

I'm a little confused on this. I know I haven't read the whole thread but I'm staying onsite and have the park hopper:confused3

Just home from MK today.

Background info - I belong to a group of local AP holders & castmembers who visit a park every Tuesday. None of us have booked phantom stays so no one has a MB. Some in the group knew about FP+ testing and some didn't. Our group varies from 8 to 25 people depending on the park and the weather. Today 18 of us were at MK.

As a group FP+ was an epic FAIL!. We arrived at 10:00. Those who came through the TTC entrance were given a paper slip saying FP+ was in testing and listing 4 locations to go for FP+. (Tomorrowland @ Stitch, Fantasyland @ Circus Pete's, Frontierland near Sleepy Hollow, and the walkway between Frontierland and Adventureland.

Crowds are almost nonexistent today so no FP of any sort was really necessary but we wanted to test the system. We headed off to the Stitch kiosks. LOTS of CM's holding signs and directing folks. We specifically stopped and asked about large groups and the best way to proceed. We were told by three different CM's, three different procedures:confused3.

We entered the queue for FP+ and only had a few minutes wait then our trouble started. We could not get any FP+ selections because the machines kept crashing and we had to keep reentering the same people over and over. One poor CM was trying to make it work. There were upper level folks all milling around, seeing and hearing our frustration but no one stepped in to help. We tried for 40 minutes :( Finally the girl said she couldn't help us and we should either get each individual their own FP+ and take a chance on times matching up or just ride standby.

We were completely frustrated and disgusted at this point. For us in the end it was not a vacation ruining experience because we are there all the time, but I can imagine a large family group going away totally unhappy.

Around noon a few of us tried the system as individuals. The CM's at Frontierland seemed much more knowledgeable. They suggested that if you are in a group to limit the group to 6 or less and take your chances matching up with the others in your bigger group. We were able to make FP+ ressies with decent return times. However, because we have AP's that aren't synched up with MDE we couldn't see them or manipulate them on our smartphones.

We stopped at Guest Relations on the way out to report our experience and were received a little coldly. "Well, it is the first day and we have a lot of bugs to work out" "It will work better when you have MB's"

BTW, wi-fi was sporadic. Sometimes I could connect and others not.

Anything specific I can answer, feel free to ask.

So, it appears CMs are able to access "day of" Fp+ and are no longer blocked from the Fp+ system? Just asking because I will be there next month and will use a Guest Pass for entrance.
