Good evening everyone!
Its been about 5 years since I've been at the parks. Can I get a DAS for claustrophobia? Some ride queues make me nervous. (i.e. Space Mountain, Haunted Manison). I don't know if they would consider that a legitimate reason. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have no idea if they consider that a legitimate reason, but I will caution you that you still need to go through the queue, you would just do so in the fastpass line after waiting through your return time. It does not allow you to bypass the queue in any way really because the fastpass and regular lines are usually right next to each other, you just go though faster. Just wanted you to know for planning purposes.

You will need to go to GR and tell them your concerns about the lines the DAS is need-based not DX

you have to be able to explain why you cannot use the standard lines. they do not give a flying fig what your diagnosis is.

the entire park is crowded and typically all day. how do you handle that? or in line at a QS restaurant? a bus or the monorail? DAS does not come into play in the parks themselves, restaurants or transportation. use fast Pass to use the shorter lines many of which are less crowded. have your party form a bubble around you to create a safe space in which you can move about a little.

I know for Haunted mansion you can request to skip the stretching room which does get packed.

You will still need to wait in queues, so be prepared, but also be prepared to say why waiting somewhere else would be better.

We first used DAS after my son had a complete breakdown in the line for Toy Story Mania. We hit it at rope drop and only had a few minute wait (we didn't stop in line until right before Mr. Potato Head) but the queue area itself was the issue. Too much for someone with SPD. He literally dropped to the ground, put his hands on his ears, and closed his eyes, screaming. Up until then we had just used FP and went in lines shorter than 30 minutes. It never even occurred to us that the line itself would be an issue. (especially when most kids enjoy the interactive lines)

We have him waiting for over 45 minutes now so we don't use DAS as much, but we still use it on the "too intense" queues like TSMM regardless of time to avoid sensory shutdown. I would think claustrophobia would be similar. Just be aware that sometimes the FP queue is more tight than the regular one.
