I have been reading these boards for the past month or so trying to get information to plan our family's first trip to WDW in May. I have read only positive things so far about Cypress Pointe so I decided to search for good rates. I just booked a 2 bedroom on Orbitz. com for $96/nt- May 4-10. They also have a special on a 1 bedroom for $75/nt. I have seen rates similar to these on hotelkingdom.com, but they required full prepayment. I booked on Orbitz because you can book with a credit card to guarantee, but you don't have to pay for the reservation up front. Just thought I would share that with everyone. Also, if anyone has any input on Cypress Pointe, that would be really appreciated. I would like to know which section would be best to stay in, as far as rooms go, and also which pool is the best for young children. Thanks and happy holidays!:p

Oh good, thanks for the info, Karen

Didn't know about CP on Orbitz. That is a very good rate also.
I would like to stay there sometime, but I also didn't want to pay upfront with hotelkingdom.

Sammi is the Dis specialist on the CP. She can probably give you more info.

LOL Thanks hercamore :) I've never been called a "specialist " before!;)

Karen if you've been able to use the "search" button here on the DIS you've no doubt saw some of my postings re: Cypress Pointe as well as other DIS'ers reviews of this really nice resort.

We have been about 7 times in the past 8 years as my cousins are owners there and we are so lucky to be invited to stay with them.

The older part of Cypress Pointe has just all been re-done and although we haven't been down yet to see all the renovations completed, I've heard great stuff about it all.

The Grand Villas are the newest of the resorts and they have 2 pools available over there....a turtle shaped pool (and a mini turtle pool for the little ones) and another big pool over at the newer part of the Grande Villas. Right behind the reception office is the niceset of the pools which has a volcano to one side spewing water.:) There is a couple of water slides, volleyball net for the pool and a really nice hot tub (there are actually 3 hot tubs there);)

You seem to have found a really good rate for the 2 bedroom unit too.:) There is plenty of room in these villas and when we go there are usually 6 of us and we have lots of space to move around in. There is a really nice screen enclosed balcony, washer, dryer, microwave and dishwasher. We've always had great service from Housekeeping.....if we needed something such as extra pillows, dishwasher detergent etc. they're always there right away.

Here's a few web sites for you to take a look around.

Hi,

Since you seem to be somewhat of an expert on Cypress, I thought I would ask you a question that has been on my mind.

What is the noise level like here? Can you hear your neighbors on each side of you and what about upstairs from you? Can you hear alot of noise from the people above you walking around? I appreciate your response.

Every seach I have done on this resort, you have posted something so thats why Im asking you. Thanks in advance!!!

Kerry

Hi Kerry:We've never experienced any noise at all and even if you did I'm sure the front desk would take care of the "noise makers"as they seem to be very efficient with any complaints. My cousins usually try to request a top floor also which may help if there are others walking around above you.....although we've not always been on the top floor.:) I'm very very sensitive to noise (I have such wonderful neighbours next door to our house......UGHHH!) and I've never complained about any noise at CP.

Also depending on which villa you get you may be lucky (like we were one year) to be able to sit out in the evening on our balcony and watch the WDW fireworks!:) We had a fantastic view every night that we were in although for the life of me I can't remember the number of the villa we had.:p

Hope this helps and happy planning!;)

Thank you Sammi, for your input and honesty. I really appreciate what you have to say when you post about this resort. The information is always helpful to me.

Kerry

For everyone who replied to my post, thank you so much! Especially Sammi, your wealth of information is really helpful! Thanks for taking the time to share with others. I have been trying to plan our first WDW trip which will be in May, and I have really almost been overwhelmed with the task. To find accomodations that meet all your family's needs, but within your budget and searching for good deals, it's not always easy. But I have been so grateful for the info and advice I have recieved on these boards. I will be sure to share my experiences with others when I return and hope to help someone else plan too.
Happy Holidays!!

Karen--

If you're looking to stay in a timeshare condo, there is no better deal than skyauction.com. You bid on a resort week, then keep searching their computer system for weeks that fit the bill.

I just looked and CP was not listed for May 4 checkin, but other resorts were, including a two bedroom at Westgate Vacation Villas. However, CP and Grandevillas almost *always* come up eventually.

You can keep your reservation, but keep an eye out at Skyauction for a chance to get the week in an auction. You're currently reserved in a two-bedroom for $96 per night plus tax, but getting it through Skyauction will cost you about $45 per night *including tax*.

Search these boards for more skyauction.com advice, and good luck. We're making our second trip in January on a skyauction week (after a week at Orange Lake) and I can tell you there is nothing quite like the feeling of knowing you're staying in a huge condo for the price of a fleabag motel. The hundreds of dollars you save make it easier to swallow Disney's inflated prices without stress!

Thanks for the great advice on SkyAuction! I am going to take your advice and keep my reservation, but see what I can get on SkyAuction. I am definitely a bargain-hunter and I'm with you on paying $45/nt for a condo. Thanks again for your help!

Karen and Kerry I'm only too happy to help anyone out and you'll find so are a ton of others here on the DIS.........it's really a great place for help and information.:)

Happy Holidays to you too!:sunny:

If I can be of any more assistance please let me know.:)

$96 is a great rate for a 2 br! We stayed in the newer section in a 3 BR and loved it! It worked out really well for my family, which consisted of 2 tweens, my SIL, MIL, DH & ME (7 months pregnant). They loved the savings of the kitchen, and the convenience of the wsher/dryer. DH & I liked that we could close our door, get rid of the family & still have a nice space for ourselves :) Also, having several TVs helped keep the peace.

I can't remember if the pool near us had a kiddie section. It was a plain pool, but nice. The kids went over to the main pool, but I napped instead :)

We found the location to be very convenient. It's close to lots of shopping, and not a bad drive to the parks.

I'd stay there again!
