Hi All!

We're leaving for Florida in T-11 days and counting. Quite excited. We traded our II Timeshare for Cypress Pointe Grande Villas. It's just the three of us (me, DH and DD6)

I was curious for those of you who stayed there, how pushy are they about the "tours" of the location? I know some places can be horrific. I hadn't seen any posts on this.

Also, we haven't purchased tickets to the park yet. Do they offer any discounts at the resort?

Thanks!

We stayed at Cypress Pointe in Sept of 2005, right after Katrina. Needless to say, it was a very quiet time at WDW and the condos were desperate for "buyers."

At the time I had booked a 3-bedroom condo for $85/night through hotel kingdom. My parents came with us on that trip.

At check-in, they asked if we would like to attend the pitch. I had heard that if you said no, they would make the offer better (at least back then!). I said no, and then they uped the ante. Since I had my parents with me, they said if both parties showed up for the pitch, we would get $150 Disney Dollars EACH ($300 total)! We're from Canada, and back then our dollar was at 70 cents so that was a huge deal. They told us we would be done in an hour and there would be babysitting for our young DDs.

The next day we attended, and OOPS, sorry we don't have babysitting ... not sure why the front desk told you that ... it's only available every other day ... There was a basic hot breakfast buffet. I thought they would let us go faster since I had 2 preschoolers with me, but they kept us for at least an hour and a half before letting us walk away.

All in all, we didn't feel it was a waste of time because we got a lot of spending money and a decent breakfast out of it. I don't know if they would have kept calling if we hadn't booked. I'm not sure what they are currently offering .. but try to hold off for what you consider a good deal.

In comparison, we attended one at Bonnet Creek in April. They gave us $75 Disney Dollars, and a pre-packaged donut as their "breakfast". The kids were kept in Daycare on another floor and they were given a handful of goldfish as their "breakfast" while they watched a DVD. Also, they called the condo twice before I said OK, and they promised an hour but after 90 minutes we demanded to leave to check on our kids. Their sales staff were a little rude and pushy ... and although I loved our stay at BC better than CP, I would never get involved with their sales dept again at any cost.

We're checking in at CPGV on Father's Day and staying for 9 days. We stayed at Cypress Pointe 1 in 2005 and loved it. DW and I consider ourselved veterans of the timeshare presentations having done 5 or 6. I believe you said you're doing this on an II exchange. That's where you are ahead of most...you already know about timeshares (the good and the bad). If you stick to your guns and say you don't want to buy...just wanted the tour...you can get in and out in about 90 minutes. We actually enjoy the tours.

See you there!

LOL! I'm an old pro at timeshare tours. I think I was about 7 the first time I went on one with my parents. They own timeshares in Cape Cod and Williamsburg, my sister has one in New Hampshire. The ones my parents own are deeded and in a trust, so, in a round about way, they're mine ;) Between the timeshares and the vacation homes our family has, I don't think either DH or I will have a hard time saying no to one in Florida.

We own two timeshare weeks, both at a resort in North Carolina. We've attended one timeshare presentation - at Sheraton's Vistana Resort in Orlando - in our lifetimes. And that's one more timeshare presentation than I wish we'd attended.
While I'm not sure how pushy CP's sales people are, I'd ask you how much your vacation time is worth to you. If you're planning a leisurely vacation with nowhere in particular to go, won't be setting foot off the resort and enjoy talking with people who want you to do something you don't want to do (buy a timeshare week), then by all means attend a timeshare presentation and be happy with whatever inducement(s) they offer. But if you value your vacation time as your own then I'd suggest that you skip the presentation. Instead look into buying tickets from one of the authorized discount sellers like undercovertourist.com (you can pick up tickets locally in Orlando if you don't have enough time to get them by mail before your trip).
Cypress Pointe is a nice resort, you should enjoy it!

we exchanged through II and stayed at Cypress Pointe twice. let me just say i LOVE the resort! only the 1st time we stayed there, they called us and said we forgot our "welcome package" at the front desk. so dh went to get it, and they asked if we wanted a tour, we would also get a breakfast and theme park tickets. but he said NO. they didnt bother us anymore. that was in june 2006. we went back in june 2007, and they didnt even bother asking us at all! .
they do have a desk where they sell tickets, not sure if they are discounted, though! i hope you will love it there too! i'm kindof missing it this year, we were lucky to get a DVC, but i am regreting it since it's only a studio. i will have to pack twice as much, since we will have no washer/ dryer!

good luck,
~Sue

Postalcop there are washers and dryers for folks staying in DVC studios too. At SSR and OKW they are near the pools. At BWV just around the corner from Muscles and Bustles on the ground floor. At BCV, and it's on the 4th floor with key access, and at AKV on the 5th floor near the entrance to Zebra Trail, key access. Hotel CMs don't always know, and it's not on the maps.

The washers and dryers have slots for coins, but just push them in, no quarters needed.

We have actually stayed there for like 3 years and have done and not done the time share presentation. One time we held out for awhile and got like $200 or $300 dollars in disney dollars (actually they were in $20 denominations of gift certificates, so we actually got cash back when we used them). The last year we did not do the presentation and they did not bug us after we told them no. But if you do the presentation, they are a little more of a hard sell and you have to do the normal go through three people to finally get your gift and be done. Keep yourself on time, we started the no process a little over an hour into the sales pitch and were done within an hour and a half and two hours.

I enjoyed the resort, most rooms are right near a pool, so no long walks, plenty of parking and you are real close to a Winn Dixie to get groceries. Only about 5 minutes from Downtown Disney too.

Just returned from the Grande Villas. We also stayed there last June.

When you check in, there is a desk. They may offer you money, etc. I just told them that I wasn't interested both years.

My husband answered a phone call one morning around 10:30. They were calling to make sure we had gotten the towels we requested. (Nobody says they had requested towels, but they showed up the day before.) They asked DH about us taking a tour. He said that he would talk to me but that we would probably be busy in the parks. Never heard from them again, and we didn't take the tour. My aunt has timeshare and gets us getaway weeks. My mom just bought in Branson so we have 2 family members to take care of us.

Enjoy CPGV, we enjoy it there. MY DS 4 cried when we left. He wants to sell our house and live in the condo.:rotfl2: Good try son!

After check in, they asked us what our plans were. We told them point blank we would be in the parks most of the time, and when we werent, we would be relaxing. We also went on to say we already owned a timeshare, and had no interest in buying another. That took care of it.

Thanks for all of the information. I really do appreciate it. If they were offering a decent gift, we're not planning on spending every waking second in the parks, so, we might do it. But, I'm sure DH and I will have to agree if we bother taking it or not.
