Does the volcano pool at cypress pointe have a slide? I can't tell from the pictures on the website. I thought I read somewhere that it does. If it does have a slide, how long is it?, is there a height or age requirement to go down it?, would a parent be allowed to go down with a small child?

Any replys would be greatly appreciated.

It has 2 regular slides, the kind you might see at a playground. They don't come out of the volcano. I don't think they have water running down them. Its best to get wet first, then go down the slide.

There isn't any kind of age or height requirement. I wouldn't recommend going down the slide with a small child. I think the slides are enclosed tubes, so it would be hard for an adult to sit up straight. The slide "dumps" you into the deep end...maybe 5 feet. (Can't remember how deep) Not a shallow landing spot. You'd land on top of a child if you rode together. You could wait in the water and scoop your child up after they hit the water.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Its been a few years since we've stayed there. They may have changed things since then as well.

I hope that helps and doesn't confuse you further. If someone has photos they could post, you'd know what I'm trying to describe.

Ok, I've found the DISboard where all the TUG (www.tug2.net) members hang out!

TotoToo, I think I've figured out who you "really" are! :cool1:

To the OP -- I didn't use any of the slides when I stayed at Cypress Pointe, but the pools there (the volcano one & the turtle pool at the Grandvillas) were very nice. I was there at Christmas and found the pools too cool for my taste, but the rest of the year I'd expect them to be fine.

In general, I've become very careful about going down hotel pool slides, although I still do the ones at waterparks like Typhoon Lagoon. I've found that the slides at a lot of hotels are really not designed for "full size adults" like me, just for kids. I've never gotten stuck, but I did once go so slowly that a kid behind me crashed into me! Very embarassing!

Going down a slide with a child on your lap is quite dangerous. When Dh was a child, his aunt went down a slide with his sister on her lap, and broke her (the aunt's) back.
