Cypress Pointe Villas Hated It

I'm sorry for the OP's bad experience at CP. We haven't been there, but have been considering it for our upcoming Dec. trip. We've been really spoiled with 2 great resorts on our last 2 trips (HGVC SeaWorld and Orange Lake), both for amazing rates. Though I am aware that CP won't be as "deluxe" as those resorts, I think we'll probably be satisfied, and hopefully we'll actually enjoy it! Thank you to everyone posting on this thread...it's nice to hear a variety of viewpoints so we know what we might expect.

Stayed in a 3 bedroom last December. I won two weeks on SkyAuction's ready-set-go for under $550 for both weeks. It is a great price for accomodations. The hallways were dirty, and garbage was about.. The room was surface clean, furnishings were in just OK shape. High Speed internet did not work (wouldn't have cared - but had to go to Kinko's to send documents to office) and I was charged for it. I called the day prior to the end of my first week stay to make sure my room keys would not be deactivated as my second week began - was assured all was OK - and sure enough - I came back from a long day at MK and could not access my room.. Housekeeping had all their supplies outside the door waiting for me to check out. The pool was OK - but not a resort feel at all. I also did not feel too secure coming and going here as there is no gate or guard at the entrance. I would not stay there again.

I have stayed at Orange Lake and the Embassy Resort at Grand Beach for comparable rates and have been very pleased. I recently returned from a stay at Summer Bay. The resort itself was nice, but I also had numerous cockroaches in my room. Housekeeping was very gracious, and they sprayed the villa twice during my stay, but I was still finding live bugs at the end of my stay. I have stayed at more than a dozen different hotels and timeshares in the Orlando area, and rented three homes, and the bugs at Summer Bay were the first I have encountered. If I could get past the creepy crawly memories, I might give Summer Bay another chance.

As others have said, everyone will have different experiences. I enjoy reading a variety of views when researching my vacations, so I thought I would post.

No mistake about it though, if you are in or near Disney - it is a good day.

We stayed at CPGV over Thanksgiving week and there was a guard at both the CP and CPGV gates. Perhaps this is a new addition since your stay there.

Also, SandyinCanada, the Volcano pool has a small area that is 5 feet. Most of the pool is 3 1/2 feet deep.

We enjoyed our stay very much.

Sorry to hear your thoughts on CP. (Actually I'm shocked as I've never heard anyone so down on their experiences at CP) My family have been owners there for nearly 11 years and we've always enjoyed the resort and always had extremely helpful staff. :D

For those of you who are concerned about upcoming trips I'm adding a link to photos that were taken April 2003 and last month for you all to take a look at.The first bunch of pics are from 2003 and the 2nd page are from our trip last month. The only problem we encountered was that the turtle pool was broken (COLD!) and they were awaiting a part and the newer pool (DH calls it the Mickey pool) was cool but all it took was a phone call to maintenance and the pool was warmed up nicely in only a matter of hours. Now I call that service! lol

Our most recent stay there, was in the renovated 3 bedroom at CP 1 and we enjoyed our visit as always. :flower1: And Lisa I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay at CP! And I was looking to see if you were chasing a couple of boys around the pool but alas we must have missed each other! lol

If anyone has questions just PM me and I'll try and answer them for you. :D

PS: Oh and yes by the way we just love Charlie the parrot!!!!! :cool1:  :earboy2:

Thanks for the info Figment

and thanks for letting us view your pics again, Sammi. it looks pretty fine to me. We never expected a huge resort but more of a condo/timeshare kind of place so I don't think we'll be disappointed in that respect anyways. :)

I was just wondering. YOu said you received a renovated condo so I assume it must look like the second page of Sammi's pictures. I think the pictures look great. But I can understand you being disgusted by the hallways. That's one of your first impressions of the place.

Overall, though, I think I would chance a stay there. If something were not to my liking, as in the cig. butts or garbage where it shouldn't be or something, I would complain and see what would be done.

Hopefully we will be staying in the Grandvillas this Dec. (won an auction through SA but was postponed because of Hurricane Frances). But I wouldn't mind if our other week were at CP. We'll see what comes up.

Thanks for the link to view your photos Sammi.
We are staying at Cypress Pointe for two weeks, beginning the end of January.
Can't wait to go. . . .!

I hope you all (Pamela and Sandra) have a fantastic time at CP and WDW! :D Also if ever you have a problem re: garbage, cigarette butts etc. PLEASE call maintenance or housekeeping and voice your concerns as they want to make everything nice for your vacation but they also are more than happy to fix what's not right for you or anyone else that's a guest at the resort. :D

I know last month when we were there we noticed all kinds of cleaning up going on on a daily basis and I even commented to my DH that they are always busy here. :teleport:

I think it is hard to do anything but speculate on a resort before you arrive and are given a room. You just have to hope for the best!

Sorry you got a crummy room, Doesny! We loved OLCC, but friends of ours had a turkey carcass in the hallway for several days there. Then we had roaches at Sheraton, but other friends would never stay anywhere else!

This year we have Embassy Vacation Resort, and OLCC again. Who knows how things will turn out?!

Sammi,

Thanks so much for sharing your input and pics.

That sure is one cute grand-daughter you have.

I'm sorry we missed each other too. I was listening for your accent while at the pool but in all honesty we were only at the pool on two evenings and it was rather cool (the weather, not the pool!) so we didn't stay very long. We were at the Grande Villas and liked our unit very much. We loved having the big screen TV in the living room so much that DH and I actually bought each other a 60" television for Christmas! (Got a great buy at Sam's Club).

I really liked the layout of the villas. Your photos of the renovated Phase I units look a great deal like the CPGV units, at least the kitchen, dining room and living room. We had two issues while there, a TV in the master that wasn't working properly and a backed up sink in the master BR, but both were handled professionally and courteously. I'm very sorry that the OP had a bad experience, I guess it can happen most anywhere.

We're booked to stay at phase I next weekend but we may have to postpone because of a health issue. We definitely plan on returning though, more likely in February. We had a great week!

If anyone is interested, Skyauction just placed a few 3-bedroom 7-Day auctions up for Jan. 7th and Jan. 14th.

Wow, mudd77...incredible. Thanks for posting that info. Sure wish I could take advantage of it--hope some lucky DISer can. BTW, would you know if there is a specific time of day such auctions come up? I didn't see them earlier today, and yet there's a QUICK one ending at 3pm for check in on 1/07.

Local,

Yeah it does vary, but I usually see the most activity around lunch time. As for RSG auctions the inventory is ever changing. You can be looking at a listing one minute and the next minute it is gone. To get the best resorts on RSG you need to check constantly (have a list of acceptable resorts) for your time period and if something you like pops up, reserve it immediately. Because more than likely it will be gone the next time you check. I saw a listing for the new Fairfield at Bonnet Creek resort (practically in Disney), called my wife in to look at it, and then tried to reserve it but is was already gone. It can be real tricky, but I enjoy it a lot.
