Our first impression upon arrival was very good. The condo was very clean and spacious and appeared to be well equipped. We had a 3 bedroom for 4 adults and 4 children and we had plenty of room. We stayed in Windham Cay on the 2nd floor. We were close to the pool and clubhouse and it was very quiet. The location and proximity to Disney was very good and we had easy access to a grocery store and a Walgreens.

Now onto the negatives. All of the appliances were very poor. They were new but they weren't quality. The dryer was horrible. I would put a load of clothes in the dryer and at the end of the cycle I would open the door and water would literally pour out, the clothes were still that wet. It took us well over 3 hours of drying time to get a load dry. The dishwasher worked well enough but the bottom drawer was busted and it was very loud when run. The refrigerator in the lockoff did not work and 2 of the lamps in the condo were not functional. The jacuzzi tub in the master bath could not have the jets adjusted, it is permanently stuck on 4 so if you just wanted lighter jets then you were out of luck. We could not use the bathtub in the main bathroom, the faucet was coming off the wall and the shower button was stuck in the on position. The pull out couch bed was awful. The staff were more focused on trying to get us to buy into the timeshare than they were making our stay enjoyable. The pool and hot tub were full of sand from the volleyball court. There is an outdoor shower to clean the sand off with but the only way to turn it off was a good 6 feet from the ground. I'm short and couldn't reach it, dh had to turn it on for me to use. Needless to say there is no way that a child could reach it to turn it on.

I got this place through skyauction so I can say that it was worth what I paid. But I would only stay here again if given the same deal. There are too many nicer places in the area to stay to pay too much for this.

I have now stayed at 3 timeshare properties in the area and my order of preference is as follows:
1. Sheraton Vistana - We were in the Lakes section and the condo was very nice and the location was just as good as Cypress Pointe.
2. Orlando International Resort Club - The only reason this isn't number 1 is because of it's location. It is close to Universal and not Disney. But the unit was very nice and comfortable and the staff was top notch. It was worth the drive every day.
3. Cypress Pointe - It was nice enough, but I wouldn't pay over $200 a week to stay here.

Did you go to the front desk and ask to be moved?
I book alot of clients into this property, and while the place is not 5* I've not had any major complaints, in fact just the opposite I usually get great feedback when they return home.

The times I've had to call the property and work with the staff and management they've been wonderful. I would be extremely surprised if you asked them to move to another unit and they said no.

No I did not ask to be moved. We weren't in the room that much and since the appliances were new I didn't expect it would be much different in another condo. The room was quiet and the shower was decent. Well except in the lockoff, the water pressure in there was nonexistant. When we checked in there was a woman in front of us who was complaining about a variety of issues and I witnessed first hand the hard time she was being given. We sucked it up and dealt with it. I simply would not make this my first choice to stay again and I would not pay more to stay there. And I can't recommend it to others as my first choice either.

I'm sorry you had a poor experience. I have the exact same offer, except we are booked in a 2br. at CPGV. Was the CP or CPGV? It's our first stay there and I'm not overly familiar except to say that I have seen fairly good reviews over the years. I have also stayed at the Vistana Resort 3 times, so I know your basis for comparison. We had to shorten our trip and will only be there 4 nights and won't be in the condo much so I'm not overly concerned about the appliances, but I always use the washer and dryer. Any other tips???

we were in Cypress Pointe Resort, not the Grande Villas. Maybe GV has better appliances, I know the place we stayed had just been completely updated in 2005 so I guess I expected more. Not 5* more, just functional. And don't get me wrong, the place looked nice. It wasn't anything you noticed right away.

I wanted to update our experience if anyone is interested. We stayed at CPGV (different area than OP) at the end of Sept. and had a wonderful stay. I called a few days ahead and requested pool view upper floor and let them know we would be arriving late, no problem and my requests were granted. We were in building G and from what I've read here it was the last to be remodeled. We were in a 2 BR on the fourth floor. Our unit was right around the corner from the elevator. I've stayed near elevators before and expected to hear some noise but it was surprisingly quiet. We didn't have any problems with our appliances as the OP noted, but I can't comment on the pull out sofa as we didn't use it. In fact I have to say after many stays on and off property our unit had to be the cleanest I have ever seen. Very large and comfortable. Huge t.v. in the living room. It would be nice if the 2nd BR had one as well. Sept. is iffy weather-wise but we lucked out. There were not many other guests around but the one day we made it to the pool we saw mostly older couples and some young families with preschoolers. The pool was also very clean. We were in the condo late morning on a weekday and they were using a jackhammer to break up the sidewalk near the pool right outside of our unit. Normally we wouldn't have been in the condo at that time of day and wouldn't have heard it. Front desk staff was friendly. Had phone messages that I never retrieved which I am certain were invitations to take a tour. We were on a shortened vacation and not interested so I have no idea what they would have offered as incentives.

I'm sorry the OP didn't have the same experience on their stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at CPGV again.

i have stayed here 4 or 5 times, always in the older section , not GV.

They have always been nice, and the appliances fine. For the price I couldn't fault it.

This is a time share resort, so the OP should have asked for maintinence to fix problems or to be moved. They did not rent an actual unit, even owners aren guaranteed the same unit wach time. I feel it is unfair to complain online if you made no effort to rectify problems while there. how else is the front desk to know that a light bulb is out, or an appliance not working? When I had a problem, it was sorted. In the op's case, there should never be water 'pouring out' of a dryer, ever. That means the washer's spin cycle is not working and maintinence should be called so that a fire doens't break out frm the dryer over heating.

I must stress I am not an owner at this resort, as I would not own a time share, I prefer to rent one.

We are staying here in April I will have to find out what section we are in. Hope it is on the newer side.

Gorgeous units since they remodeled..I would love to stay there again..

We stayed in the Grand Villas section - in Turtle Cay Pink C54A - 2 BR Unit. We found our room to be excellent and the appliances worked really well. Had no issues whatsoever and would definately stay there again and recommend for the price we paid - £800 for 2 weeks for 5 of us.

Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I would just add to this one. I am giving a brief review of the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas.

My family of four (4) [DW, DD (6), DS (5)] stayed at the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas for seven nights from November 6 - November 13, 2010. We were in a two-bedroom unit, and got it at a 75%-off point rate through our time share company.

My review will mostly encompass the unit, since we spent 100% of our time at the Disney parks.

To sum up my overall feelings in one sentence, the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas is completely adequate, nothing more, nothing less.

Edit 11/18/2010: Since others have stated in other threads how nice their unit was, I called Cypress Pointe to see if the unit I stayed in had been refurbished yet. It has yet to be refurbished. End of Edit

The Unit

The kitchen has an over-the-range microwave, four-burner electric stove and oven, top-freezer refrigerator, dishwasher, two-basin sink with garbage disposal. All appliances were modern. The kitchen has a pantry for food. Table settings for six, plenty of glassware, and adequate kitchen prep materials. There was bar seating for two.

The unit has a stacked washer/dryer which was adequate, but the dryer took a long time to dry clothes. The unit had a laundry basket.

The king-size mattress in the master bedroom was a little soft, but I did not have any trouble sleeping. The spa tub functioned properly. I have to question the architect that thought it was a good idea to put the toilet and shower in the same room, and then position the shower door in such a way that when you open it, you have to step out of the way in order to let the shower door clear the toilet, as you can see in the room labeled 'Bath #1' on this floor plan. The toilet/shower room also has a pedestal sink, and there a single sink with a large vanity in the master bathroom.

The second bedroom and second bath are exactly as advertised - two twin beds, closet, dresser; full bathtub, vanity sink, toilet.

When we started the week, the master bedroom had a tube-television and the living room had a very large projection television with an external DVD player. At some point during the week we discovered that housekeeping delivered a flat-screen tv to the master bedroom and moved the tube-tv to the 2nd bedroom. We did not request this.

The balcony did have a vinyl table and chairs for four.

Why was the unit simply adequate? (What caused it not to be someplace I would long to return to?) Here are the things I noticed.
  1. The brass toilet-paper fixtures were tarnished.
  2. The wall flange for the pedestal sink was extremely tarnished.
  3. The corners of walls were chipped in places and need repainting.
  4. I already mentioned the strange shower-door/toiler placement.
  5. The carpet was thin, and I preferred to wear my sandals while inside.
  6. The door locks to the balcony did not make me feel secure. Since we were on the second floor, this did not bother me. The sliding glass doors to the balcony were hard to lock, let's put it that way.
  7. The back of one of the living room chairs had a stain on it.
  8. There is a $1/night charge to use the in-room safe. Is this normal to charge for the safe? I didn't think Grand Beach charged for the in-room safe. Since the only valuable I had was a camera, which we brought with us each day, I opted not to use the safe.

The room came with the following supplies.
  1. Three bars of bath soap.
  2. Two shampoos.
  3. Dishwashing detergent for one load.
  4. Small bottle of dishwashing liquid.
  5. Sponge
  6. Laundry detergent for one load.
  7. Two boxes facial tissue.
There may have been other things, but nothing comes to mind. By mid week I requested additional bath soap and shampoo. They gladly brought me a refresh of all the supplies, at no charge.

Local Amenities
I suppose the only resort amenity we used was the on-property pizza/deli. We ordered edible pizza and pasta one night.

There is a Winn Dixie supermarket within a quarter mile. That was very convenient. Just down the road, at Crossroads, there are plenty of restaurants. We ate at Sweet Tomatoes one night. We mostly drove to Disney via the route that takes you past Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney was pretty close to the resort.

Staff
Check-in went fine. The welcome committee (a.k.a. sales staff) asked for my room number in order to give me my welcome packet. I asked twice, in the same sentence, not to receive any phone calls, and my request was honored to my knowledge. (If there were any phone calls, they would have been when we were at the parks.) I had Magic Strollers deliver a stroller, and I asked for it at the front desk. I brought it back to the front desk on the evening before we checked out, and there were no problems there. They asked that I empty the garbage and run the dishwasher before we checked out. I checked out by calling the front desk and leaving our key cards in the unit.

I'd be happy to entertain any questions. This concludes the review.
