Cypress Pointe confusion

Hi Everyone,

I recently (Sept.) stayed at Cypress Pointe. My reservation was for Cypress Pointe Grandvillas from hotelkingdom.com.

When I checked in, my villa was actually in a community called Sunterra. It seemed to be an older section. The phone was HORRIBLE. There was no sound when the phone rang - you had to hope you were watching for the light to come on to see it ring. The bed was even worse! VERY hard and uncomfortable.

I know that you get what you pay for. I'm doing some research for some people that *may* stay there. I've heard that there is a new section. I noticed on hotelkingdom.com, there is also a listing for Cypress Pointe. So there are two listings - Cypress Pointe and Cypress Pointe Grandvillas.

So which is supposed to be the better one and why did I end up at Sunterra?? The resort area was nice, but the bed was OLD and horrible.

Thanks!

Sunterra is the vacation ownership company, i.e. timeshare corporation. The two resorts, Cypress Pointe and the Cypress Pointe Grande Villas, as you know, are across the street from each other.
Your villa was in Cypress Pointe, wasn't it?

If your reservation through www.hotelkingdom.com was for the Grande Villas, then when you checked in, the Sunterra representatives should have placed you there. The newer units are the Grande Villas. I suggest that you contact hotelkingdom to let them know what happened. Although it is too late to do anything about the fact that you were in the wrong section during your September visit, you might want to send a copy of your paperwork to hotelkingdom to let them know what happened. But, can anything be done about this after the fact? That is something that you will have to negotiate with hotelkingdom, isn't it?

Good luck and I hope you enjoyed your stay at WDW.

Thanks!

But I really don't know for sure if I was in the older section or the newer section. I was in the section that was next to the little convenience store where you could order food. It wasn't in the same complex as where you check in. I'm just assuming that the complex where you check in was the newer section, right?

THANKS!

Here is a post from early September that might give you more of an idea:
"On the Grandvilla side there were two pools, hot tub (maybe two of those?), and a children's wading pool. The grounds are well kept, and there is a small putt-putt course, a convenience store (rather pricey) and tennis courts. There was plenty of parking, even when everyone was "home" late at night. It was a very quiet location, and there was no road noise.

It is a short walk from the Grandvilla side to the sister resort, Cypress Pointe Resort. You can use the amenities on that side, which include the volcano pool (a really unique design, complete with effective lighting at night, and three small waterslides) a volley ball court, basketball and tennis courts, and the arcade. Resort activities are conducted there, including some arts and crafts, and a movie night in the clubhouse."

Does this help?

Hi,

Thanks. Yes, based on that info, I think was at Grandvillas. I was next to the convenience store and I know the other complex had the arcade and all the other stuff.

So I was in the newer section? Wow. I'd hate to see how bad the beds were in the older section. I don't know - maybe I just had bad luck and got a really hard bed!

Thanks for helping me clear this up!!

:D
