What have your experiences been lately at these resorts? Stayed at Cypress Point about 4 years and the kids loved the pool...I loved the easy drive to the park and Publix right there? What is the distance to Universal and Sea World? Thanks

Horizons is a Marriott, Cypress Pointe is nice - but it can't compete with a Marriott.

if your kids are young they will love Horizons!

:wave2: Hey Pat, you're back!! You need to post about your trip, or did you already and I just haven't seen it? Let me know.........I always love to hear about what you thought of the resorts and stuff........

............ok. now onto the OP.... :)

I would love to stay at a Marriott. And Horizons isn't that far from CP, right? So they are in the same basic area.

But for me, it would depend on price. I'm sure I could get CP cheaper, since it's on Skyauction, but I would love to try a Marriott sometime. :)

horizons is closer to SW.

CP is closer to WDW.

horizons is about 20 minute to IOA/US

cp is around 30 minutes

We just got back from Horizons; the waterpark area was great, the kids loved it and the slide.

Pat, I think CP and HOrizons are only a few miles apart. They are definately not as close as I thought, though.

Universal's site says that one is 7 3/4 mile away and the other is 8 miles away so they are almost the same distance/travel time to Universal. I agree CP is closest to WDW since it is so close to DTD.

We stayed at Horizons last Oct and loved it. The room was great there were 6 of us and had pleanty of room. There were two bedrooms, a living room and kitchen and dining area, two baths and a washer and dryer. We had three tvs so everyone could watch what they wanted. And the pool, the kids loved that pirate ship, pirate: they wanted to leave the parks to go swim and did not want to go back for the fireworks. It was great we even played putt putt on the property one night. It is very close to Sea World, not too bad to Universal. I would love to stay there again

No Horizons on Skyauction. I wish! :cloud9:

I would think renting from an owner would be the cheapest. I'm sure someone can give you some websites.............all I can think of is redweek.com and tug2.net....................any others?

horizons is almost across the street from Cypress Harbour - so about 1 miles maybe a 1/2 mile from SW.

there is no way either is that close to US.

SW is around that from CP.

I would say WDW (Cp) is around 15 to 20 miles from US/IOA.

Horizons is around 12 miles.

my opinion!!!

using the Interstate - SW is the next exit from Disney DD, then US/IOA is around the 4th exit after that (might be 3rd).

only timeshares that trade through RCI are shown on www.skyauction.com

there are some II timeshares - but they are listed as hotels - $32 per night, instead of $195 for the week listed as extra costs.

We're going to Orlando 13th-16th of this month for me to go to a continuing ed conference---taking my mom and DD. Needed plenty of space and things to do for them while I'm off slaving away <G> so we tried to get Cypress Harbour (we've stayed there before and loved it) but nothing was available for our dates. So we're staying in Horizons. The pirate ship looked cool!

We're also going on vacation (time for Mommy to have some fun, too!) the week after (22nd-30th)--staying first-time onsite at POR for 4 days and then switching to Horizons for 4 more days. Keeping our fingers crossed we're going to be satisfied with our hotel choices......... :teeth:

How far is Horizons from WDW??

We usually stay in a DVC room, but next summer we're going to use some Marriott rewards points and stay in a Marriott in Orlando. I've heard a lot about Horizons. Isn't there also one on 536 near WDW? What's that like??

Jenny

a good 15 to 20 minute trip.

the closest Marriott timeshares are along 536 - in the Marriott world center

Marriott's Royal, Sabel and Imperial Palms

both Imperial Palms and Sabel Palms get much better reviews than Royal Palms

these are around 5 minutes from WDW (if that long)

One of our dd's loved the new slide in the new pool which is now part of Water Works.

The other dd HATED the slide as she is 4" too short for it

This was a great trip for our family. Our girls had lunch with the pirates, breakfast with the pirates and loved both of them!

Hope you enjoy your stay pirate:

To the OP

If your kids liked the pool at CP they'll LOVE the pool at Horizons. To me there is no comparison. We stayed at CP last year and Horizons this year. CP was OK and the location was great but that second bedroom was tiny and no TV. The grounds felt very apartment like. Horizons was open and airy, the second bedroom was large with 2 doubles. It was very nice. We loved it. There is a beautiful lake with swinging benches and rocking chairs. Just peaceful and beautiful.

Good Luck,
Jenn

P.S. The Vistana is also very nice. One of our favs.

This is NOT to argue with you Pat. I think you have more knowledge about Orlando than most people on this board............ :worship: :teeth: so I bow to your "highness"......................

but this is just so I can get this right. I fear I am not understanding something.

If you use Universal's site for directions, and put in CP's address (8651 Treasure CAy Lane, orlando, fl, 32836) it says it is 7 3/4 miles away from Universal.
http://themeparks.universalstudios....nce=FL&origPostalCode=32836&transaction=route

I would put the directions here if I could. I couldn't find how to link it here.

And if you put in HOrizons address (7102 grand horizons blvd) is says it is 8.10 miles from Universal.

Is there only one Horizons by Marriott or do I maybe have the wrong "Horizons"??

From these addresses, can you tell if this is right or do I have something messed up? Thanks :wave2:

Pamela - I did the same thing and I got the same information.

I only know that it seemed alot further.

I think this time I will have put the mileage on my car.

SW is the next exit from WDW - but as I say US/IOA is about 3 or 4 exits further down.

I am going Nov 5 - so I promise to measure this time.

using both I4 and ID.

both from Epcot to SW, SW to IOA/US.

I have found mapquest to be wrong before - but I would think this one someone would have corrected them on before now.

I am hoping I can come back and say I am wrong!!!

Oh, thanks Pat. Yea, that's what I was thinking also. Their site should be correct...........ofcourse, it also gave driving time and that said 14-20 minutes. Maybe that's why it seems longer.

All I know is, it's going to take me a long time to get to know the Orlando area. Give me a map and I can get anywhere but getting to know "the lay of the land" is harder for me.

When we were driving around Orlando last time, I kept saying to my DH, "Oh, that's where ______ is.........and that's where "such and so" is, I thought it would be down further." I was so mixed up.

But I'll get better...........just give me time.......... :teeth:
