Are certain areas or locations better than others at the CPGV's? We've heard there is construction going on. Also, we're a little worried since reading trip advisor about mold and dirty carpet issues. Anyone recently visit who can reassure us? Thanks

We were there back in June. The place was really nice. I didnt notice any mold or dirty carpets. I think all the buildings are pretty centrally located to the pools. There were two really close by, based roughly in the middle of the buildings.

Go with no worries, and have a great trip!

We were at CPGV from August 21 to 26 2007. We were in Popoise Cay and we asked for a first floor room and got it.

However, there were some painting on the 2nd floor stairwell. On the 3rd floor, they were replacing beds. (we saw the beds getting delivered). We did see carpet scraps near the stairwell, so it looks like carpet was being replaced. I didn't hear any construction noise.

We did not have a dirty carpet or anything like that. No mold whatsoever.

Thanks for the info. Are Grand Villas located in Phase I and II or are they just in phase II? Is Phase II the newer section?

It gets a bit complicated to answer. First the Grande Villas are Phase 2 - the original resort is simply called Cypress Pointe Resort. Both have 3 bedroom units exclusively but the units can be split into a 2 bedrrom and 1 br lockout side.

The Grande Villas lockout has a mini-kitchen which means it can be traded as a standalone unit with RCI/II. CPR 1 BR does not have a kitchen - but do have a small refrigerator and microwave - and cannot be traded with RCI/II. For CPR you will only see 2 or 3 bedroom units in RCI/II - for rent there are 1, 2 & 3 bedroom units. For CPGV there are 1, 2 & 3 bedroom units for rent or trade.

As for old and new it gets murkier. The physical buildings at CPR were built between 1992 and 1997. The buildings of CPGV were built from 1995 to 2001. So if you just look at building age CPGV is newer. But the units within those buildings are actually older at CPGV as they have never been updated while every CPR unit was gutted and renovated to current standards in 2004-2005. What that means is you'll find newer furnishing appliances, bedding, drapes, entertainment equipment, etc at the "older" CPR resort. CPGV has a renovation under design but it won't start until at least mid-2008 or later.

The other big differences are the floor plans, buildings and grounds. The CPGV floorplan is more traditional. CPR had an "open" bath design in the master bedrooms that some don't mind and others hate. CPGV has a more standard layout. The buildings at CPGV are 4 and 5 stories with elevators clustered on a small plot of land. CPR buildings are all 3 stories, no elevators, on a large property that also hosts the Clubhouse, pond, forever wild area and more. We prefer the "old" style, low buildings as it seems to fit with Florida more than the high rises, apartment style does. Both are nice and both share a great location.

:rotfl: Just scored a 3 bedroom for my trip here.....woot WDW here we come!!! From what I have read everywhere this is a great spot for a big family. Im going with my wife dad&mom and my mom. Was going to stay onsite but just way too much money with the size of the group(maybe next time when it just DW and Dkids:woohoo: ). Im looking foward to cooking brestfast every morning for everyone:banana:. My second backup choice was Shades of Green. I say book it. Not too sure on the contruction but by the time we go it should be done.:rolleyes1

Thanks. We're feeling much better now. The website looks great, but I know they can be deceiving.

I was wondering what the 1 bdr rooms are like? Looking at the floor plan, is the pullout bed in the kitchen and a door seperates the 2? We are looking at going in Jan with our son (8) and want to be able to let him go to sleep before we do. It might be best for us to get a 2 bdr it is $200 more. Thanks for the help.

The one bedroom for more than 2 people, unless the 3 and or 4th are very young children, is too crowded. As you noticed the separation between the kitchen and bedroom is minimal, there is only one tv and one bath. You would most likely be much happier in a true two bedroom unit.

Thanks, I don't think we will spend much time in there, but the extra room will probably be worth it.
