Yeah, I know its not Universal...but figured this would be the best place to put this.
Cypress Gardens closes after reopening for the fourth time? What is going to go in that land? What would you put? No...you can't put disney in it!

When I went as a child it was so beautiful with the botanical gardens and Southern Belles. My parents really liked the ski show but I just liked the atmosphere. It's such a shame that a beautiful place like CG is closed now...probably for all time. :sad2:

I wouldnt say for all time. Suppsedly Balckstone, is looking at CG for an expansion.

This was in todays Bay News 9 regarding the closings.Apprently the rumor has been a round for a while.

A possible buyer?
One of the potential buyers of Cypress Gardens may be Legoland, a chain of theme parks with multiple locations in Europe and one in California.

In an email released to Bay News 9, Legoland's parent company, Merlin Entertainments, says it's looking to expand.

"We have also gone on record saying that the USA is a key market for expansion for the company for all our attraction brands," the company said. "To this end we are assessing the potential of several key areas/sites, including in Florida, but we have no specific plans as yet for the state."

Acording to the Ledger, a Polk County newpaper, CG hasnt commented on Legoland, adn Legoland was not available for comment on the subject.

I've also been hearing the Legoland rumor for a couple of months now.It was obvious the place was in financial distress,I mean I never bought the whole preserve the history of the park by removing the rides and animal attractions and improve the waterpark, obviously they were short on funds so they decided to sell 3/4 of their rides and with that they could pay the bills and possibly add a slide or two to the waterpark and thus call it improved.I visited the park while it had the rides area and they were on the other side of the gardens area so the two in my opinion could work together, their problem is they are 45 minutes down the road from Disney off US 27 which probably is a more intimidating drive for tourists than say Busch Gardens where the drive is mostly on a major highway. Also anyone who saw photo trip reports of the park probably saw just how empty it was, where I heard there were days that ride ops would just walk with you as you went from ride to ride.If they put a Legoland in there and market it in a package along with the other parks Blackstone owns/will own the place might just possibly work for the first time in a long time.
