My PCP prescribed Cymbalta for neuropathy in my legs/feet. She assured me the side effects were little to none. I took the meds for 3 days and experienced extreme exhaustion, headaches, nausea and dry mouth. I stopped taking it and the side effects went away. however, I did experience some relief in my neuropathy. I'm open to re-starting it, if I know that side effects go away.

Does anyone have any experience with Cymbalta?

My dad takes it as well as several other meds to attempt to help his neuropathy from a back surgery.
The tiredness is probably the worst side effect especially for him because he is unmotivated to even move at this point.
He does need a hip replacement etc but his nerve pain has gotten worse due to that need and doesn't seem like its helping him at all.

Often they say that you need to be on a med for a good 2-4 weeks to know if its going to work and if the side effects will go away.
So imo if you found relief then I'd start it back up and give it a month. If you can't deal with the side effects and they don't lessen then stop.

No experience with that medication, but I would certainly talk with your doctor if have side effects greater than what she explained to you. With some medications, you can't suddenly stop taking them and they specifically say that. Don't know if this is one of those, but certainly I would start by having a conversation with your doctor.

One thing about this drug - an SSNaRI - is that, along with Effexor, one can experience a sort of delirium after prolonged use. Makes them superior to SSRIs for depression, in many eyes. However, they DO have more side effects than SSRIs (such as Paxil and Celexa).

Keep in mind OP is not using it for depression.

For the record, Cymbalta did diddly squat for me - no therapeutic effects, but no side effects either. Might as well have taken a sugar pill. But then again, I turned out to be highly treatment resistant so I'm not the best person to ask about this!
