I have to admitt I am very afriad of drops. For anyone who lives in the NY area and has been to Coney Island, you know what the cyclone is. That is deffinitly the biggest ride i have ever gone on (not by choice). I was wondering how the "thrill rides" in Disney compare to that. I was actully OK once I was on it, but probably wouldn't go on anything alot worse. Will I be okay on Space Mountain, RnRC, or EE? Is there anything you wouldnt recommend. I hate drops so i doubt splash mountain will be ok. thank you!!! :)

I'm not crazy about drops either, but love the thrill rides! I haven't ridden on the Cyclone, but have been on similar coasters, as we are enthusiasts.

Splash Mountain only has 1 larger drop at the end, but the ride is worth it. It's one of my favorites

Space Mountain doesn't have any large drops, just a few small, quick drops.

Rock-n-Roller Coaster doesn't have any large drops either, just lots of twists and turns...my kind-of ride :cheer2:

Of course Tower of Terror has lots of drops at the end, but the storyline makes it worth it to me and believe me I don't like the drops. DH had to bribe me the first time with a cool t-shirt to get me to ride it, now I'm hooked and still hat the drops, but ride it anyway.

Disney thrill rides are fantastic and I am counting the days till we're with the mouse again.

I've ridden the Cyclone - not one of my faves either :)

You'll be fine on Space Mountain. The ride doesn't go as fast as you'd expect. The only thing scary about that ride is that as an adult you feel like you might bump your head in a few spots!

I love the RRC, it was really fun. Fast & very LOUD. I didn't really like the very beginning, but it was over so fast I'd go on it again in a heartbeat!!!

TOT - obviously there are drops, that's almost the whole ride, but I don't think it's that scary, you're sitting in an "elevator" with about 20 other people and a small seatbelt.

Allears.net has a place on their website that has pics of all the ride seating :)

I love the Cyclone, but rest assured that none of Disney's coasters come close to it in intensity! (I lived in NYC for 12 years and during that time rode the Cyclone many times.)

I haven't been on EE yet, but I've read about it, and its top speed is nowhere close to the Cyclone's. As for the others, Space Mountain is very tame (I think I read top speed 28 mph?), Splash Mountain's drop actually looks more scary than it is, RRC is as everyone says LOUD and over before you know it (very cool, though), and TOT is a hoot. Disney is just a very different experience from your typical amusement park (with the probable exception of Universal, which I am going to for the first time later this month) because of all the theming and attention to detail. With the exception of Mission Space, they are not going for the speed or intensity of coasters you find, for example, at Cedar Point or a Six Flags park. Or Astroland in the case of the Cyclone.

There is a generic amusement park ride that is very similar in character to Space Mountain and is sometimes called Wild Mouse. Coney Island may have one of them.

I have been on a "large wooden" roller coaster like the Cyclone only once, about age 15, and said "never again". Yes I was scared looking "way down there" as the coaster cars crested each big hill.

The Cyclone is the first wooden coaster I've ridden since the old Zephyr at Ponchatrain Beach when I was a kid and I was so surprised at how intense it was. It just didn't look like that big of a deal from the ground! The Disney coasters are a much, much smoother ride.
