Cvs weekly 8/2-8/8

:lovestruc Forgive me I am still new to this. Sorry.

Base on next weeks ad I have made a potential wants list. After doing all the math I have reached 3 different plans. Which one do you think is the most profitable:

Plan 1 (all my wants- nothing this week is a real need)
$4.48 OOP get $8.00 ECB

Plan 2 drop off 1 item
$1.49 OOP get $4.00 ECB

Plan 3 drop off 1 item (different item than in plan 2)
$0 OOP get $5.00 ECB

Here is my train of thought- stay with me please- to compare everthing equally I looked at plan 1 by manipulating the ECB a little, by shifting the values a little because it is all money, kind of. (Plan 1 value could be $1.48 and $5.00 ECB-does that make sense?).

I need a smiley with smoke coming out of it's brain. Plan 1 and get more ECB to use later? Plan 3 and walk out with no OOP? Plan 2 meet in the middle?:scared:

:headache::scared1::confused3:sad2:OCD CVSer????

How crazy is it that I am stressing over less than a $5.00 bill after using coupons and ECB for $20 worth of merchandise?

Okay, first I think we can't really compare, because you don't say how many ECBS you are starting off at.. Do your oops include paying with all the ECBs you have and then what you're getting back.. You have the potential to lose money. For example if I buy $20 worth, use coupons to get it down to $10... have $8 worth of ecb anf pay $2 oop it's not a true $2 oop unless the things I'm buying produce enough ecbs to replace what I've used. To keep going your scenarios need to produce either close to or more ecbs than you're spending.

DISCLAIMER... I'm one of the few who don't mind oop if it's something I need/want. Some people here won't. I've gotten to the point now where I only buy the deals I really want, that are free, or that are MMs. I don't buy shampoo just to buys shampoo, I only buy it if it's free, or a kind I really want to try really cheap or I can turn it into a MM. After you've been going awhile you'll get like that too, most of us are. I don't scour for razors as I have 27. My ecbs waiver from $10 to $30 and I build/burn as my budget allows

HTH!

I'm so happy to read this!! :thumbsup2 You've also described me!

I was really going through CVS burnout :scared1: because I seemed to be trying so hard to get stuff I really didn't need (already give tons to shelters, family ect) So now I'm really trying to stick with what I need, or will need soon, and if I spend even several dollars OOP, so be it. I know I'm still saving big bucks!!

I was so bummed when I thought I had cvs burnout but now I'm back to loving it! :) Anyone else get like that?

:-) Good. I get burntout, especially when all that stuff was 70% and 90% off. But really chasing it all over town isn't worth it unless I need/want it. I still get the free toothpaste and stuff to donate, but I don't make special trips for it. I like to scan but with three kids home during the summer it's not easy to run by & scan. I do more when the kids are in school. I'm trying to stick with only going once or twice a week, unless I have to.

Again I'll pay for stuff, especially if it's things we use (ie pullups, goodnites, milk, etc) but only with coupons or large bcks to burn

This weekend, go to the pharmacy and ask for this coupon book: ReadyFill Coupon Savings Booklet $25

Wow, great transaction! Sure hope my pharmacy has these :goodvibes

I heard those coupons in that book are valid 8/2/09 to mid-September. Do you think they'd work on 8/1 (Saturday)? I was planning to do the Visine and Blink deals on Saturday so hopefully it'll work!

They usually don't have a start date on coupons so I think if we can get the pharmacy to give them to us, they will work anytime before Sunday.

Gotcha! I did not think about the loss of a few ECB. All would include using all ECB I have left ($9).

I was just thinking about the exchange itself. I am not worried too much about the OOP. I expect to have some, especially on the things that I want that may not be on sale etc. but I am trying to figure out how to get this thing rolling so that it will work when there are things that I do need and they are part of the sales.

There will be a $3 off 1 Blink coupon in Sunday's Red Plum too, so those who can't use the $4 coupon that is expiring on Saturday will have another option.

LOL, what the heck is Blink and Visine Wipes? Are they wipes for your glasses or your eyes? :confused3 If so, ick! :rotfl2:

Blink is like Visine drops I think and I don't know what we do with the wipes, but I don't care as I'll give them away and spend the extra money at CVS on stuff I really want :lmao:

I have a question regarding this deal. I have a bunch of $2.50 coupons off of the Electrasol tabs. They are 2/$9. Must you buy them in quantities of two to get the sale price? I'd like to buy 5. That would make my deal:
4.50 x 5 = 22.50 - 12.50 q's = 10.50 and get 10 ECB back. I wasn't sure though if box #5 would ring up as $4.50.

You can buy them in odd quantities and still get the sale price unless an ad specifically states 'must buy 2' type of restriction.

Just did this transaction in the test market here, the pharmacist gave me a coupon book and the coupon beeped, it really doesn't start until Sunday - they pushed it through:

$11.97 Three Visine Wipes
7.99 Blink Gel Tears
-3.00/$12 eye care from Ready-Fill Coupon book (get from pharmacist)
-9.00 Three Visine mfgs. from 6-14-09 Smart Source
-4.00 Blink mfg. from 5-31-09 Red Plum
$3.96 (earned $12.99)

The tax thing is in full force here now. I had a zero balance and still had to pay $1.21 in tax for those 4 items.

Flaky and Lana, you are both the best!

I appreciate all the work that you do for all of us.
