Cvs weekly 6/14-6/20

So I spent 1/2 hour in two different CVS's today and I didn't buy any deals. And I couldn't even think about deals. My DD 4 was bit by a dog, her grandmas, while I was at work. My DH came to my work, 2 mins from hospital, to tell me. (I didn't answer my cellphone). I was freaked. I practically walked right out the door. Managed to remember my purse and such. She got four stitches for a puncture on her cheek below her eye. She was in awesome spirits. Not even upset at all when I saw her. Although she told me I didn't need to take her to the Dr. Because the blood wasn't pouring out on the ground anymore like it was! Oh thanks baby that was really helpful, mommy feels so much better now. She only cried when they cleaned the wound out with a spray bottle of water and then when they stitched it she kept telling him to stop. "Stop it now!" she said.

Ay ay! My nerves are shot. I had to go to CVS to pick up her antibiotics and while I was waiting I tried to think what deals were on that I should do. But no such luck. My brain was dead. I just scanned my card and only got the Divine cookies and paper towel coupons. And I didn't have a prescription coupon on me. We hardly ever get prescriptions. Although the pharmacist rang me out and he scanned the double extra buck code for my script. So that was good at least!

OMG sorry for the long post! I still feel crazy inside after it all and it happened at like 3pm.

So sorry to hear this!! Sure glad to hear she is doing well, poor kid having to go through that :(. My daughter was bit in the mouth by a dog at day care about 15 years ago and whenever I see a child's face by any dog, I still cringe. Please give her an extra big hug from me.

It seems to me my taxes at Walgreens is always a whole lot more than at CVS At CVS as you use ECBs the tax comes down but at Walgreens they do not.

Did I make any sense?

I don't know who programmed Walgreen's registers, but sometimes I've been charged tax on the full price after using Walgreen's coupons, which are supposed to bring the actual price down.

I hate shopping there, I should have been out first thing today to start buying the body washes, but I still haven't gone.

Anyone work out a good Aveeno deal?

YMMV but this is what I did:

21.00 3 Aveeno Positively radiant (7.00 each)
1.88 Kelloggs Raisen Bran
15.98 2 Schick Quattro
2.99 Crest Pro Health
6.99 Purex 3in1 sheets
-10.00 $10/3 Aveeno (for Positively Ageless but she pushed it through YMMV)
-3.00 $3/$15 Face care CRT
-1.00 Kellogg's q
-8.00 2 $4 Schick q
-1.00 Crest q
-2.00 Purex 3in1 q

I spent $23 in ECB and .85 OOP and earned back $20 ECB.

Very excited to try the Purex sheets. I think those will work great to take to Disney and use in our villa:thumbsup2 Since we fly we usually end up buying detergent down there and it is expensive. We usually do wash everyday so these will be so easy to pack and use.

Sounds like a good run! Are there many Aveeno products for $7?

So sorry to hear about your DD  How is she doing today?

Thanks so much everyone! After posting last night I felt a little silly to be telling you all about it. On the CVS thread too!

DD is doing fine. She doesn't really seem phased by it at all. I have a friend who works for a plastic surgeon and I was asking her for recommendations. And did you know a plastic surgeon won't look at you for 6 months to see if the scar is bad? I wish I had insisted that we have a plastic surgeon do the stitches. They look good. But not as perfect as they could be.

Lanajae, this has really been one of my biggest fears with my in-laws dogs. The same dog nipped at my other DD and got her hand a few years ago. But only a minor scrape then. Everyone in the family thinks I'm crazy. But they are animals and sometimes they react as animals not as pets. And that is what he did. But she was right back petting the other dog last night only 1 hour after having stitches. So at least she won't be too afraid I hope. Is your DD afraid of dogs now? Did her face scar from her bite??

Thanks again everyone!! :hippie:

I hate shopping there, I should have been out first thing today to start buying the body washes, but I still haven't gone.

I did buy the body wash today but I cannot find the $1.50 Q. I file my inserts and it is not in the one from my normal Sunday inserts or the inserts I get from Richmond newspaper.

Are there any IP ones?

I have about $80 I have to spend by the 18th from the monitors. That is going to take some thinking.

Don't ever worry about posting family things here! We're all friends, and that was pretty traumatic and you did have to go to CVS anyway (lol).

We should have brought my daughter to a plastic surgeon, but our insurance wouldn't pay for it and we would have had to have sued the day care's insurance policy. It was a bad situation, in retrospect, I would have done more about it. She has little white scars, but they aren't very noticeable and they are flat. Be real careful with your daughter's face in the sun, maybe use breathable bandages until you can put extra sunscreen on that area.

My DD never became scared of dogs and to my horror, she continued to go to any dog and hug it with her face right there. I hope your in-laws learn from this! It took me years and years before we got a family dog, and then we got a Bichon because of their temperament. Our dog is the dumbest dog in the world, but it would never occur to her to bite or get angry about anything.

On a drugstore note.. my youngest and I went to 4 Walgreens and I dumped all my St. Ive's coupons and RRs about to expire. Sure isn't very fun to do Walgreens, but all 4 stores had a lot of body wash left. Most were almost out of the reusable bags though.

>>Walgreens warning again

It was a regional coupon, we had them in the Mpls. paper, but not the St. Paul paper here. There aren't any IPs, except HCW has a link for one to be used at Shaw's.

$80 is going to be tough to spend, but if it was all free to begin with, I'd buy all the food items that are on sale this week.

We're all friends here! I think we all post personal stories at some point - I know I am sure guilty of it. :) Glad your DD is feeling better and I don't blame you at all for being leery of that dog.

On a CVS note - I stopped by today just to get the Raisin Bran and our store was completely out (BA store for the locals) of course. I did manage to get 3 of the Excedrin Migraines for that deal and then noticed in the clearance area that all of the Excedrin Menstrual Formula were on clearance for $1.75 each. I had enough coupons to get the 3 Migraine ones for the deal and then got all the others for .75 each after coupons. When you look at the formula they are the EXACT same amounts of each ingredient so they are EXACTLY the same. There is one other Excedrin that is the same formula too. All of mine expire mid to late 2010 so I know they will be used by then.

Also found in the clearance section a bottle of 750 CVS brand ibuprofen tablets (same as Motrin) for $4.12 that had a late 2010 expiration. I take 800 mg of Motrin once or twice a day for my torn rotator cuff so this will SO come in handy!

Check your clearance aisles for pain relievers!

Hi all:

i am saldy an infrequent Cvs-er. DH doesn't like to waste paper by getting it deliverd (our local paper does not have an option to ONLY get Sun or Sat. We have to get Thurs-SUn or everyday of the week). When we get it he has to go out early on Sun to get it. SOmetimes, he doesn't want to and it's irritting. anyway-there were a few things this week that worked out to be a good deal for me.

I hadn't cvs-ed in quite a while so i had no ecb to use :(. I got:

2 excederin 20ct gel. Had 2 qs so $4.49-2 $1q and $4 ecb
1 excederin back pain had 1q so $4.29-1$1q and 2 ecb
2 kotex pads $7. had 2qs so $2-1.75 and 2 ecb
1 purex 3 in 1 sheets had 1 q so $6.99-2 and got $2ecb

Total saved on qs was $6.75.

My oop was $20.93 but got $10 in ecb

Not too bad but happy to build up my ecb again. Trying to build up my ecb again.

thanks to the OP for posting the deals early each week.

Lara

I'm so mad, I bought 2 papers to get the schick coupons, and I didn't get them at all

Did you only get a Smart Source insert? We didn't get any Red Plums here, don't know if that was nationwide. The St. Paul paper didn't have the Schick coupons, but the Mpls. paper here did - I almost missed them, they were on the last page.

Hi Lara! That's pretty good for this week!

Whenever anyone tries the Purex, please post how you like it. I think I am going to get some this week too to have on hand for vacations.

Thanks, I had forgotten there was a coupon for the body wash, it's a $$ maker now!

Thanks for posting!

I'm glad she's doing OK too. And please! We're a friendly bunch here and everyone should feel OK to share things that are going on OUTSIDE of CVS!;)

That's a big reason why I love these threads. The deals are good and the friends are too!:grouphug:

I didn't CVS today. maybe this week....

A friend tried Purex 3-in-1 today and said it worked great. (If you buy it, the deal is actually better at Walgreens which has it for $5.99 minus the $2 coupon and $2 RR making it only $1.99 compared to CVS for 6.99 minus $2 coupon and $2 ECB making it 2.99. It's not advertised in the Walgreens ad, but it was posted on another website as a better deal.)

I read on another website that the only insert scheduled nationwide was SmartSource today.

Yep Smart Source is the only one for this week according to Taylortown preview.
